New Penton Motorcycle

I was over today at Motiv Cycleworks, the Guzzi shop in OKC.  Don and his partners at Colvin Racing were building some customer bikes.  They restore lots of classics like Nortons, BSAs, Triumphs and Harley.  Eric Colvin is a Vintage Flatracker and competed on Guzzi LeMans bikes in the old Battle of the Twins series.  Most of the bikes being built are subcontracted to brokers and restoration companies.

The Pentons are another story.  They have a dozen or more of the final serial frames and are custom building them for sale.  So if you;d like a new Penton, you might contact Don or Eric.

My first thought when reading the thread title was "oh no, not yet another classic name tastelessly misused to make money selling some inconsequential new bike"... so I'm happy that's not actually the case.

 As much as I loved the 125 Six Day and the very early 175 Jackpiner I owned when they were almost cutting edge , and as cool as owning a virtually new '78 model , they are likely out of my price range

Dusty, could very well be.  Don didn't have an estimated price.  Not enough experience building them.

I asked him these were off road or street legal.  He said that they could build them anyway that the customer wanted.

Eric is an interesting fellow.  He picked up his LeMans from Tulsa Atlas out of the crate and he and his dad, Bill, built it to race the BOTT. 

He said he was good for 5th place but didn't have the money to run with the top teams.  He usually was the 2nd Guzzi after Dr John.   The first thing he did with LeMan was to ditch the linked brakes after nearly binning it when trail braking.
