New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
I was able to browse a bit late this afternoon at Team Charlotte Motorsports. They have a lot of Guzzis and Aprilias on the floor. Both brands at reduced pricing except the four (4), yes 4, V85TT bikes. Three of the V85TT's have the full setup with bags etc and one (gray) is just the bare bike. The new leftover MGX-21 was discounted to I think $13K, the leftover all black 2016 Eldorado is discounted to $10K, two California Tourings, both 2017's, were $11K (red/demo) and $12.5 (black/new). They also had an all black California 1400 with just the leather? covered saddlebags but it didn't have a price tag on it. All the V7 and V9 models were similarly reduced in price.I really like the all black Eldorado. I know it's essentially the same as the California Touring but the Eldorado seat is, for me, so much more comfortable. Plus I like the entire aesthetic and wheel package more than the other CA14 models. Is there such a thing as a newer year Eldorado 1400 with the updated switchgear like the 2017 CA Touring? It looks like the 2016 Eldorado has a push/pull throttle cable arrangement and the 2017 CA14 models have ride by wire.I have no association with this dealer in any way. I'm just letting you know what they had today.Team Charlotte Motorsports3004 Freedom Dr.Charlotte, NC 28208Tel: 704-394-7301
Yes, all the bikes have a +T, +T & +D which I'm sure inflates the prices well beyond what the market will actually bear. I didn't ask because I'm not buying a leftover Moto Guzzi from them. GP Cycles in San Diego had a 2016 black Eldorado on eBay last week for $8500 which is closer to reality. But still too high even with a warranty. If/when I do get an all black Eldorado, it will most likely be a used one as at that point most of the issues like a faulty demand sensor will have already been addressed. I know the 1400's don't get much love on this forum as many claim they're 'too big and too heavy'. It's simply a matter of perspective. If it's true that Piaggio has already abandoned the 1400 line, then the prices will most certainly continue to fall. In my opinion, a leftover 2016 Moto Guzzi is soon to be 4 model years old and isn't worth much more than its average trade in value. From reading this forum, the warranty doesn't seem to be of much value due to the poor dealer network. Who knows, maybe one day an Eldorado owner will want a Victory CCT and a trade could happen. I'm anxious to see the new 1800 BMW that should finally be officially unveiled next month. There are 5 different models to be built around that platform. For me the path of least resistance is to simply keep running around on my excellent looking and running Victory. It certainly looks and runs better than new and I still love it. I have zero interest in the new Polaris Indian water cooled 'ChiefGlide' or the big Yamaha Venture touring model. There also isn't a model in the Moto Guzzi lineup I'd consider besides the all black Eldorado 1400. I still hope Piaggio allows something special for Moto Guzzi in a touring related bike for their centennial in 2021. A 1400 Eldorado with the 'touring' amenities of the CA Touring called the Ambassador would take all of about 15 minutes of R&D time. With the poor 1400 sales record and all the attention being focused on the V85, I suspect that is certainty not going to happen.
There's a reason Victory was axed, there's a reason the Cali1400 line has been abandoned, there is a reason the used market is flooded with big cheap Harley baggers, there is a reason you don't see Goldwings like you used to.... Sure Triumph just released a 2500cc bike or whatever, but it's not for loaded touring, it's for speed and bragging rights, and they are making only a few handfuls of them.Big bikes are out of favor, you may be a fan of these mega-touring barges but obviously its a shrinking segment of the market. I wouldn't hold my breath for a big new touring bike from Guzzi, and honestly it doesnt seem you really like the brand that much, so I'm sure you wont be too let down when they dont drop a 900lb 1800cc touring bike for the 100th anniversary.... Looking at the direction of industry trends and what most people are actually asking Guzzi for, I would bet a 'new' 850 LeMans (v85 Racer) based on the V85tt platform is much more likely
Everyone predicting the demise of the 1400? Hmmm. I don't see it. The same was said of the 1100 and it had a pretty good run. Time will tell I suppose. I also have to say, if you wait for the price to drop low enough you will never own a particular bike......
So, when are you going to buy one Mark?
