So again, thank you so much for helping me think through this decision.  I made the trip to a dealer that had a good selection of 2018s.  I had gone there specifically to see the Milano, but they also had a yellow and a blue Stone, and a Rough.  They also had a 2018 Carbon Dark and a Carbon Shine. I don't recall seeing the Shine but I wasn't looking for one of those.

I sat forever on the yellow Stone.  The Milano was to my right: liked the chrome, the aluminum fenders, the grab rail, and as I mentioned earlier, the fact that it had a tach.  I wasn't overly crazy about the tank color, though I know that tones like that are quite popular now and I could certainly live with it.  The Rough was to my left...those spoked wheels looked awesome!  Also had the aluminum fenders.

LOVED the Stone's yellow color and the bike looked great as a package, and for a lower price.  As I sat there I completely flipped on the need for a tach.  Yes I use them but when I thought of it, not that often and it's not 100% critical.  And I rarely have someone on the back seat, so maybe I don't need a grab rail?  Those straps across the seat are plenty effective. And I thought: from a riding proposition, these bikes provide the exact same riding experience (since the mechanicals and suspension are the same; OK the Rough's tires are a little different).  And since that was 90% of what I was looking to do with this purchase - gain a different riding experience - the Stone would certainly do the job.  So I thought "go with function first and save some money for the aftermarket farkles."  So I settled on the Stone.

And then I changed my mind.  The spokes and the aluminum fenders kept calling me. 

I have a deposit on a Rough; I pick it up next week!

This has, so far, been the best motorcycle buying experience from a dealer I've had.  Assuming it's not against the rules to sing praises of dealers, I plan to do so when this deal is complete so I can confirm it was "from start to finish."

So expect to see me back again, probably with lots of questions, (don't worry, I'll try to use the "Search" function to try to find the answers first).

I have enjoyed a couple scramblers, albeit almost 50 years ago.
Scrambler tires are great off the asphalt, especially pea gravel
Greatly reduces off highway wheel spin, even with 1140 cc.
