Stelvio TomTom mounting

If I were to buy a TomTom Rider 550, what suggestions would you have for mounting, considering my current cockpit setup?

I'm not a tank bag person myself, but I used RAM mounting stuff to put my GPS on the left handlebar on my Stelvio. Besides their put together kits, RAM has a lot of separate parts that you can put together to achieve what you want. IIRC, 30 pages of stuff.

I'm not a Tom Tom person myself, but I agree with John and have used a ram mount on the left bar for my Garmin

I too am a Ram mount user. I don't use a dedicated GPS but I do use my phone as a GPS and for music and it nice to have it on the left side handlebar. Easy to see and reach. Ram mounts are also fast an easy connect/disconnect for safe keeping.

I just replaced my trusty Tom Tom Rider with a 550.
As luck would have it, the charging dock fits the bolt holes exactly on the Touratech mount that I’ve been running since 2014.
If you want a shot I’ll take one..

Thanks for that! Just mounted a Tom Tom on the handlebar, and it's just too close to me to see at a glance. Looked at all their parts and I see a long arm extension to position it farther and higher. Should work out nice.

mounts on the handlebar are a stupid solution. It should be high up, on to of the screen rails. So you don't have to look down.

Got the TomTom today. I was expecting the cord to have a plug on the end of it to mate with the green one that's on the bike, but it's just two loose wires. Is there a specific connector I should've ordered?

Depending on your mechanical ability and how accessible the connector is, you could consider the option I have elected to do. I have cut off that plug, (leaving enough that I could re-solder if I wanted), and replaced it with a common SAE plug instead. I solder and shrink wrap it. Once done, you have a cheap easy to obtain connector for anything you want to connect. I have even purchased additional connectors for these plugs to make a plug in Y harness if I needed a second plug.

If you want the actual connector, I would check with Charlie, (Antietam Classic Cycle), since he just got one. I think he said it was a connector Mercedes Benz uses. He made mention of it on a recent thread somewhere.

Just to clarify because I think I might have been vague. That part number which I posted will fit right into the green plug that's already on the bike. All you have to do is attach the other end to your Tom Tom. Very easy and they include the little parts for that also.

This is the 550 setup as currently exists on my Norge.



My V85 will be the same..
It’s a Touratech vibration isolating mount and the holes in the charging dock fit exactly.
