Jay,
 Thanks for posting this.

 I am somewhat surprised by the final bid, as this Le Mans is in very nice shape, by the pics. I also thought that the CX100's are fairly rare in the states.

The CX100 are not considered a "real Le Mans" by many.    It was basically the Le Mans II with an SP1000 motor.

I don’t think the CX would achieve the same value or anything close to prices the Lemans I does, even if it had the LMII engine from Europe. It’s just not as aesthetically pleasing as the original Lemans.

I was surprised to see the high prices that many of the CBX brought, they have languished for so many years at the lower end. Nice to see the Laverda SFI get $13,200. The 1950 Moto Guzzi ALCE went for $9900, that seemed to be a good price.
Four green frame 74 Ducati SS offered, a big range in sale price and one that got to $195,000 was a no sale. Big money for a black 72 Ducati 750 GT - $36,300, but a 74 750 GT made $18,700.

Lots of big $$$, I wonder how many of the bikes are in tip top running condition? Seems like a big gamble to me to buy a bike at auction.

The red white and blue MV Agusta 750 was a steal at $50,000

That was the bike...

It felt like the market for collectables has softened some as compared to riders, however.  Even custom riders seemed to do ok vs restored ornaments.

A few Guzzi images from MECUM...All in all, another fun 2 days / 2 nights in Vegas...and that's more than enough... :wink:

That green '75 Kawasaki H1 500 2-stroke triple was just like the one I owned and rode at age 19...almost killed me! (80+ mph tank-slapper) so I sold it!  :rolleyes: :shocked:  The only bargains I saw was:

* 1970 BSA Lightning for $3,500
* A mid-70's MV Agusta 750S for $35,000
* A 70's Hodaka for $1,500

Maybe a few others, but the buyers premium at 10% was additional money :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Couldn't agree more; could have bought this Norton Commando for about the same $$ that many of the Honda mini-trails went for

I sat next to a collector of these at the Saloon and he told me he bought 5-6 of these Honda 50cc Monkey Bikes at this auction...all at $4,000-$7,000+ A PIECE!!

I thought last years Mecum run of Honda 50's was silly, its just exploded this year and people still line up to by them. Cute but how practical are they to ride unless your under 10 years old. I still have the 1982 CT-70 my wife and I bought new from a local Honda dealer, it has under 800 km on it and has been in the garage attic for 25 years. Every other year I ask my wife to sell it and every year she wants to hang on to it. Besides the cute factor they are plentiful, easy to restore and most every single part available, regardless that does not make them desirable in my book. For the price of two monkey bikes one could have bought a V7 Sport!!!!

Different strokes for different folks, all the power to them.

The top one {incorrectly described as a Le Mans III (it's actually a 1000 Le Mans IV SE)} actually sold for $20,000 US... not $22k (a minor error).

The price listed includes the 10% buyers fee [$20,000+$2,000] so it's actually correct.
