I have no idea what is going on.   Was the new guy an evil doer?

Not evil necessarily , likely someone who gets paid for posting references to products on various websites . In the vernacular they are referred to as influencers . The problem is he somehow failed in the attempt on WG . Remember the guy who posted the videos from the Canadian blogger that were full of nothing but vulgarity and Ducati bashing , he was doing the same thing , he left the board when he figured out we weren't going to allow his behavior . Ahh the internet , full of folks trying to turn a buck while avoiding any actual work . I have let this thread run hoping to be proved wrong , so far that hasn't happened .

Oh , probably should have mentioned this , all indications are the guy isn't in London , take that for what it's worth .

Amazing.  I had no idea.  Thanks Dusty.

I guess it's fairly easy to police a Guzzi site compared to others.   Anybody pushing the merits of points and condensers is probably a legitimate Guzzi crank.  Not much money to be made in the points and condenser business anymore.

Nothing really new here , the method of delivery has just changed . There have always been shysters out to turn a buck W/0 doing any work , the internet just gives them a way to reach a million people at once . It is easier than going door to door selling shoddy replacement windows .

One more thought Mark , we should be welcoming , the future of WG is dependent on new members , in fact any organization hoping to survive into the future should welcome new blood . Luap is much younger than most of us here , it would be nice to leave him a healthy active Wild Guzzi as some of us older guys move on for whatever reasons . Maybe we should all try keeping up with the Intro thread and offer a welcome to new members , heck go back a ways in that thread and pick a new member who is being shy and shoot them a message . It is free , and you never know what will develop when we reach out . Maybe nothing , maybe a new bestie .

You are correct and it is good to see new members and get differing opinions.

Thanks Mark , although at the moment my knees are saying something different .

Mostly I have a pretty good BS detector and take the time to read and comprehend . The internet is a strange place , so much nonsense being disseminated by people gaming folks who are perceived as easy targets . This is one of the main reasons we run WG in the way we do , this place has mostly remained a BS free zone , a rarity in today's social media environment .

A bit of trivia here, but I have read this Cockney slang was originally 'God blind me' which was (I'm guessing) some serious blasphemy, God might oblige you.

That's right.  And "bloody" was from "by our Lady" which was sort of blasphemous.   "Bloody" isn't very polite still, although Americans who are trying to "act" like Brits will use it in every other sentence.

That particular cuss word, is one I haven’t heard you Yanks use very much at all. It sort of doesn’t “ring” when y’all use it.
However, no one can say “Son of a B***h...!” Like Johnny Knoxville when he cops a blow to the nether regions, or Clint Eastwood, when Clyde farts in the pickup.
If an Aussie says it, it sounds fake and try hard.
When Al Pacino or Robert De Niro say the “in and out “ word, it doesn’t even sound offensive.
Ozzy Osborne can say while in church,
“Of all the far’in fings I’ve lost...
It’s me far’in mind I miss the most.”
And it does not sound offensive, because there’s no malice intended.
There’s a classy way to cuss and if you flinch before you say it, you either don’t mean it, or it’s socially or politically incorrect in that instance.
It’s an interesting topic..

Hello!
My name is Konrad and I'm new here!
I just wanna say hello and wish You all nice day!

If Konrad ever looks back at this thread he will think "Geepers those guys are friendly, perhaps I will buy a Guzzi and join them for real"

It'll take a lot of looking ....

1) Konrad probably lives in Lagos, Nigeria and has a name that isn't Konrad or even an anagram of it.   He probably doesn't remember which name he used for this list.

2) He has probably joined 132 other forums in the time since he joined this one, and copy/pasted the same introductory message.  It's his job.

3) He has member access to the list now (unless it's been pulled) and can copy classified ads for spoofing onto other sites, collect the available member data, or whatever he likes.   That stuff is worth something to some people, even if it's pennies each.

So the chances that we've discouraged an aspiring Guzzi rider by being a lot of big suspicious meanies are PRETTY low, I'd say.

The internet can be manipulated by unscrupulous people , although in our case not from Nigeria . Once again , hopefully this thread has been educational , don't believe anything posted on the internet W/O vetting the source thoroughly . Some stuff is easy to spot , some of the lies are a little harder to spot . Will nuke this account in a day or so .
