USB Port v7 iii
« on: December 23, 2019, 12:25:21 PM »
Wanting to use the pre-wired port under the seat of the v7 iii there are two options I see (without cutting the harness):

Choice A:
https://www.af1racing.com/store/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=88837&sku=2S000983&description=OEM+Moto+Guzzi+USB+Socket+Kit+%2D+2S000983

Choice B:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DYE54LI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
soldered to (most likely disassemble and build up from the connector):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A6LTK44/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Choice A - $57
Choice B - $18  :thumb:

Bonus of choice B is I can take the MUYI 5 connector and solder it to the 48 inch lead and then use any SAE port I want
AND I can make as many nifty swappable MUYI 5 devices as I can dream up.... that don't already have a SAE connector (hmmm)

Hooray Amazon; I get to make a wiring kit tomorrow!

I thought heated vests or gloves were 12 volt?
USB standard is 5 volt.

He must have been joking, besides the Roamer has a USB charger fitted to the headstock.

They cost so little and work so well !

Size 3X  Asian is = to Size "Large" american , 4X Asian = 1X American , be aware !

My 10,000 ma 5V battery last about 6 hours on med heat and high heat is too hot for comfort !   On Low setting I forget I'm wearing it , but still stay warm.  That factory USB port is where my GPS runs from... I'm not sure  about the amps on the factory plug either ???

................... .............

I do have a pair of gloves that hooks up to the battery tender plug (12V) , can ya have TOO MANY plugs in cold weather ?

Ok it runs off a 5 Volt battery, Girbing have a 7 Volt range but it makes no sense to me to run a 5 Volt vest off 12 Volts shedding 7 Volts.
For an efficient heating controller you turn the element on 100% then turn it off again over a short period of time On for 60% off for 40% and vary the proportion of On to Off, there is no waste heat. This is known as Time Proportional Control, very similar to the heat control on an old electric range.
I'm not saying it doesn't work it just goes against everything I'm used to.

That same little battery pack that can charge my cell phone will run the vest for 6 hours and fit  the inside zipper pocket really nicely.

Its just so handy !  When you dismount the bike the battery pack is in your pocket so there is no unplugging , except for the 12V gloves

I've ordered some of their electric long johns too , but they haven't got here yet ... No not heated there !  :embarrassed:   they are only heated behind the knee and in the back of the waist band with slash pockets on both side for a battery and an extra battery .

Good Information -just purchased these, worked like a charm.

However, the connectors from Amazon when mated to my 2021 V7 Stone accessory port, the black wire is positive.   No big deal, I will cover the leads with approite color shrink tubing.
