Best BSA forum

I have taken a break from the Eldovert project and have been working on the stalled Benelli / BSA cafe bike.  I’ve got the motor located in the frame, got the chain line right, found a Yamaha TX750 rear hub and wheel which looks right, and found all of the pieces of a set of 1971 BSA forks and conical front  brake.  I will soon need to either rebuild the mockup motor, or find another 650 BSA motor with a title.  This, I am learning, is not so easy to do.  Any suggestions as to where I should look?  The title problem is looming large.

 Join the British Biker Cooperative , or the British Bike Death Fleet , both organizations are populated by dedicated fans of old English motorbikes .

You could also try British Cycle Supply Co. They have a  warehouse in Canada as well as the USA.  DonG

I use Brit Cycle almost exclusively for Triumph parts, Mark Appleton there is most helpful.  However, by their own admission, their website sucks.  I use Baxter's to verify part numbers and get an idea of cost before I submit to Mark.

I am not familiar with a forum from them though...  I'll look around to find it.

What is this Benelli / BSA project bike?

I assume from your post you're using a BSA A65 engine, but what Benelli frame?

I agree Britbike.com has a great BSA section.   

Many of the top Brit bike experts have moved over to the fantastic Brit bike pages of many different flavors on Facebook.   The BSA pages on FB that are especially good are BSA Motorcycles and BSA Singles and Twins.   

I have found that the top guys with the most knowledge are more likely to participate on the FB pages, but Britbike.com is still a good option.

Myself I have found the the Triumph Pre-Unit Facebook page is  more active than Britbike, but I frequent both.  I am currently restoring a 1955 Triumph T110.

I’ve always refused to sign up for Facebook because I don’t want my personal information more easily accessible than it already is.  In the last few years, though, it seems like a great deal of the material that was once in internet forums has moved to Facebook, leaving the forums with a lot less substance than before.  Am I imagining this, or are forums going the way of eight track tapes?

Personal choice of course, but your FB account only has the personal information that you choose to disclose, other than the basic stuff  required like name and email address, but not much else. 

And I agree the FB special interest pages are taking off in popularity while the forums are not nearly as busy as they used to be just a couple of years ago.   I prefer the special interest pages that are made "private"  which means only fellow members of that page can see your posts.  That prevents nosy in-laws snooping around and finding out how many motorcycles you have.  :)
