Any experience out there? They have good reviews on webbikeworld- but I'd like to get your thoughts. Quality/venting/fogging/noise level? My Shoei is getting a little long in the tooth and I'm not so keen on spending $500 for another.

I've been wearing Scorpion helmets for about 5 years now and have been pretty happy.
I'm not sure they offer the same level of quiet and venting that you're used to with Shoei, but I think they're a reasonable mid-range helmet similar to HJC.

Full disclosure, I do get a discount for being an MSF RiderCoach; I'm normally a cheap SOB and get Scorpion, Bell, and Arai at steep discounts. This means I tend to buy more helmets than is probably healthy.

The regular full-face helmets fit my melon very well and I've been a size medium in all with no trouble. The flip-face helmets are a different internal shape, I can wear a size large but they still get uncomfortable before too long.

All of my helmets are pretty noisy so I've taken to ear plugs for the highway. I just placed an order for a new Arai, so we'll see how stepping up to the big leagues changes things.

Currently in Scorpion I have an EXO-T1200, which I love, an EXO-ST1400 Carbon (jury's still out but I like the lighter weight part of it), and an AT950 (modulars just don't fit me right).

I have a Bell MX9 Adventure MIPS because I wanted to get something that protected against the twisting forces, I really like the auto-darkening face shield on it but it's for in-town speeds only.

I know that some have had issues with Scorpion, but my experiences have been very good. The only problem has been there is not a place local to try anything on so the fit has been guesswork, and I've been lucky with that.

I have used them both.
The Shoei is more quiet.
The Scorpion has less fogging up issues. On a cold ride, I can not put the shield all the way down on my Shoei.
I sold my Scorpion.
Both are good helmets

I have a Scorpion that I got for boat racing. It was the most reasonably priced Snell I could find. I needed a florescent color as well as the Snell rating which the sanctioning body required. It is a good helmet, I can't comment on the noise level as I have only used it for boat racing. For bike riding I have a Nolan modular. It is a good helmet, reasonably quiet. Due to it's design it can be worn as a 3/4 or a full helmet. I had a Shoei years ago, I wasn't too impressed with it. I also had an Arai years ago also. It was the noisiest helmet I have ever owned. The quietest one I ever owned was a NAVA. I would get another in a heartbeat but they are no longer made. It was Italian as are the Nolans.

I have both. The Scorpion is a good helmet and the fit is very similar to a Shoei, but I still prefer the Shoei. Scorpion is a touch lighter, Shoei a little quieter. Actually, I have three Shoeis, two RF1200s and a Neotec. The Scorpion is an EXO-1200.

You can find closeout (discontinued graphics) Shoei RF1200 helmets at motorcyclegear.com for under $400 and the Scorpions for half that. Either one will give you good service.

I have the Scorpion EXO-AT950 and find it to be wind loud; much louder than my Sedici modular in similar riding modes: shield open vs closed, or vents open vs closed. There are some great trade-offs though. The Scorpion has a wonderful field of view, decent ventilation and I can ride with the shield open to the first notch without added road noise or vision impairment. To cut down on the wind noise I now ride with ear plugs wearing all but my Bell Pit Boss; if only I could find the right kind of ear plugs. Suggestions?

Good quality mid-range helmet for the money. I have the EXO-GT3000 (modular). The fit is very good and feels lightweight. It's the first modular helmet that I have used extensively while riding so I can't comment on noise levels. I find it comfortable, functional and nice looking.

I must add that their customer service is excellent. 2 years in I began having problems with the sun shield not functioning correctly. I contacted the factory directly and they replaced the helmet under warranty.......no questions asked!

I would certainly recommend.

My wife has a scorpion helmets that she really likes. I wore it for a while when I was in sudden need of a helmet when the one I had was damaged. I was impressed by the quality of construction and how light it was. I usually wear an Arai because of my round head. Oddly I don't recall any weird pressure wearing the Scorpion like I do when I squeeze my melon into a Shoei.

Was using an Arai Profile for my long oval melon...until i found out about the Scorpion EXO-R2000. Wow, a lot cheaper and fits me better. Been using it about 5 years no issue. The R2000, now becoming the R1, is their best (Snell rating). Take a look at that one. I'd shy away from the cheaper ones...

I started with a 3/4 Scorpion about 15-20 years ago. very impressed. I have had 4 EXO 900 and still have 2 of them. I also have a 950 just to try. they are the most fog free you will ever buy as they have a proprietary coating on the shields. Bombardier has it for Canada. One had the chrome flake off of something whipping out the paint and shield. instant no questions asked warranty.

I've been wearing Scorpion or over 7 years now. I was introduced to them at the race track by the instructors so I tried them. I wore them on the race track and continue wearing them on the street. My latest is the EXO GT3000, it was one of the best looking modular helmets and my first modular. I am happy with the Scorpion, is it an Arai -no. But it is in my price range. Everyone has different tastes and budgets. Helmets are like motorcycles not everyone will agree on what to have. But they are good helmets.

I have been wearing one for 6 years like it a lot except for when it rains I get a trickle of water right down the middle of the shield. I have changed the shield several times but still get the same. good thing I live in California.

Check out the blow outs at STG (sport bike track gear) $220 for the R2000. That's what i usually buy...

I bought a Scorpion EXO 700 helmet back in 2007 as an emergency buy. Got 10 great years out of it, and was very happy with it. Relatively quiet, very comfortable and plush with decent ventilation. Replaced it with an AGV Skyline.

I think you are looking at their very top of the line offerings. The majority of Scorpion helmets are less than $300 and a good number less than $200.

My ST1400 is a $400 helmet (MSRP) but it is really hard to find a carbon fiber helmet for anywhere close to that anywhere else.

I have been wearing Scorpion helmets for the last 10 or 12 years. I use it for everyday use and touring.They are a high quality helmet. There are different size cheek pads available for a custom fit and an air bladder for even more options for fitting. The helmets ar pretty lightweight and carry a five year warranty. The models I use have the flip down sun shade. I did read somewhere that the shields are fog free. They are treated with a special coating. The shields are made in Canada. I have never been a fan of the pin lock system. Although they are a bit noisy, I use ear plugs.

I have the same helmet and have the visor removed which makes it quieter and doesn't catch air at speed. I always wear ear plugs so noise isn't a big concern.

aw crap.. they're all good. Helmet fit is more important than who makes it. The rest is just bells and whistles.

These. I prefer the LITE but they all work well.

As for helmets-every one will be a compromise in noise and protection without proper fit. Several years ago while looking for distributors for my product at the Cleveland IMS show I spent hours with the helmet guys observing folks looking at helmets. After a conversation with the reps most agreed to be measured for a new lid. It's not an exaggeration when the helmet guys report that 80% of folks do not know or buy the correct size for their head based on what I personally saw.
