Eldovert oil tank and cooler

I’ve got an engine case and a junk convert trans mounted in one of my loop frames and am doing some mock up work.  For those who have built Eldoverts - (1) where did you mount the oil tank?  and (2) where did you mount the oil cooler?  I’m thinking about putting the cooler behind the battery.

In my opinion, it's important to keep the components as close to the original positions as possible for proper fluid flow. I mounted the cooler up front, utilizing the horn mount hole (never got as far as making a lower mount). I made a bracket to mount the oil tank behind the left battery cover.

I'm thinking the height of the cooler and tank relative to each other and the trans input will have an effect on how well it pumps.. I mean I would try to mount each as close to original placement as possible.

The “relative height” idea is interesting.  I don’t know the specs of the stock fluid pump, so there’s no way to know if it’s correct.  I’m thinking that the way to evaluate the plumbing arrangement will be to determine how it affects fluid temperature.  Is it common for converts to run high fluid temps?  I’m tempted to put a temp sensor in my modified system and see how well the system cools compared to the stock system.

Mine runs rather hot at times, to the point I'd like to fit a larger cooler.

I used a oil pressure gauge to follow the ATF pressure.

I used the entire oil cooler bracket from the tonti frame to mount the cooler to my Eldo frame (although it was only attached at the top with a rubber bushing). No issues in over 10 years. I also mounted my oil tank in much the same place it would be found on a tonti. I made room for it by using a PC680 (3" wide) Odyssey battery on the right side. I managed to re-use all of the stock oil lines except for the 2 that go to the oil cooler, they were easy to make with transmission oil cooler hone from NAPA and some rolled edge (Fuel Injection) hose clamps.
