Thank you for the details, n.  Please post a follow up for us, Hunter.  It would be nice to free up some juice on the V9.

On the Guzzi you may have to remove a decorative ring in the headlight, I did on the Griso and V7iii
Those bulbs probably have a tiny computer style fan under the element, I bought something similar off the net, so far they have been good.

I run this HID bulb in my stock V7III housing and it is absolutely excellent, "night & day" with all puns intended: https://gtmotocycles.com/collections/electronics/products/led-headlight-bulbs-usa
(I think this is a Cyclops Product if it is easier for you to buy from somewhere else than GTM.) They provide an excellent pattern, and light up the road very well in low beam. You will rarely (if ever) use the high beam, the low beam light intensity and pattern is that good.
I've also swapped out the rear light/brake bulb with a direct replacement Sylvania LED (1157 ZEVO Red. Fair warning: your plate will light up RED with it, your local smokey/inspection station may take issue with that.) The running light is ok, but the brake light turns it up to 11. Cars behind me give me an extra 10ft at intersections.
With both bulbs switched I ran my heated jacket liner (H-D branded, Gerbing product) without issue, so far at least.

Thanks (again), TMS. Looks like a winning combination. I hope to run wiring tomorrow for my GPS and voltmeter, so I should know soon whether I need to do this or not.

I installed a digital voltmeter yesterday, while it rained here, and got out this morning for a ride. Here's what I found.

1. After recharging the battery following use of the starter (which takes a few minutes), the voltmeter reads 14.5 at 2,500 RPM or better. At idle, it reads 12.6 -- less than the 12.8 it reads with the key off.

2. Now switch on the 30-watt heated bib. At 2,500 RPM, the voltage reading drops to 13.1. At 4,000 RPM, it has climbed back to 14.1-14.2 volts. At 4,500 RPM, it has dropped a tenth or two.

I would conclude that I can probably get away with running the bib as long as she's spinning 4,000 RPM or better. I'd guess that the voltage regulatory isn't doing anything at that point, which is to say that I'm using all of the available capacity. If any of you electrical whizzes are drawing other conclusions, I'd love to hear them.

You are most welcome! And thank you for posting the results of your test. I'll let the electrical wizzards analyze that, my in-depth electrical expertise ends at "It is pretty bright!" or "it looks pretty dim...".
