Are 1200 Sport increasing in value?

To repeat the subject.  Are used MG 1200 Sport models increasing in value?  Has some mysterious market force other than WG forum members finally discovered this machine?  Is it the next 1000S?  R90S?

I stumbled across several listings for 2008 2v 1200 Sport bikes ranging in price from $4700.00, $6499.00 all the way to $8900.00. 

Very strange, since only one bike has a mileage I'd consider legitimate.  Here's mileages as I went down the site:
3539, 2336, 4612, 2059, 4337.  Only one, at 30345 even seemed legit.

Maybe their DigiTek dashboards all failed somewhere early on???

Well, anyway, mine has to go.  Age, and reduced lower body strength has relegated me to riding my old 1991 R100GS and the recently acquired 2016 T120 Bonneville, so I need to find a home for old faithful.  Almost 70k miles.

I may call Enzo and see if he might have a potential buyer for this old CARC bike.

That's unfortunate.  (not sure if you're being facetious about the AUS 6000.)  I know how much you enjoy your Norge, and the 1200 Sport has been the same for me for nearly 10 years.  Can't give them (12S) away here in the USA.  I'd be really happy with $4200.00 USD, and that would be with bags, tank bag, and a few other things.  Huzo, these CARC bikes don't seem to create any enthusiasm here in the USA.  Be interested in hearing if the seller in your area has any success selling his.  What do you think?  Fear of dashboard failure? 

If I hadn't lost lower body strength after heart surgery/staph/sepsis in 2016, there's nothing in the garage I'd rather be riding.

I’ve been very fortunate regarding oil pump and dash, no dramas with either.
He was keen to give me the Sport + 3k for my Mk 2, but another bloke threw 9k at me....

I noticed the other day a couple of Griso's, 2006 ish models both over $12K. I was a bit surprised as I only paid that for my 2012. Not saying they weren't worth that but usually they are around $6K.

While they prob have a little higher value than the Norge or Breva, i dont think a 1200 Sport is going for anything above $4800 in the US, and thats probably the price for a low mileage one with farkles + probably a NIB spare dash.

Sad to say cause I know you love the bike, but 75k miles is a real issue for 95% of motorcycle buyers... I dont think the vast majority of riders even know it's possible to put that many miles on a motorcycle.. And it doesnt help that its an unknown brand; and if you google it, the first thing you see is that the dash might explode at any moment, killing you, your wife, and your dog

First series 850 Le Mans...Big-valve 1000S...early V7 Sport...these are the only ones that seem to increasing in value....but only for pristine / restored correct examples...

For sure on the list John made, but there's been a nice peak in value for the 850 Le Mans II / CX100, and the 850 III. People are still finding deals but round-heads are generally rising. In other markets (UK) Guzzi are in demand, and England has a growing number of aftermarket parts firms.

In reality, the market has yet to fully recover from 2008, which is true for many things. The investment made by Mecum and the recent crowds in Vegas proves vintage motorcycling is alive and well, and especially the last few. Anyway, this probably isn't the best time to rate the value of anything, but if I had to buy a modern Guzzi it absolutely would be the 1100 Breva or 2v 12S.

Mine sat on the market for a while before it sold for less than any you referenced above. I had a lot of the same additions on mine plus a spare 1200 Sport dash and some other stuff, and a lot fewer miles.

I think you replaced the dash on yours? Which also means the odometer is not correct, same as mine. I had one dealer refuse to even consider it as a trade due to age and mileage, another offered me $2k as the title would be branded with incorrect mileage (plus age and mileage).

In the end I had to be honest with myself about what it was worth and was happy with what I got. I would have been ecstatic with $4800 but I didn't even have any lookers at that price, I think that's where I started mine out at.

Yes, it was a great bike for me and I rode it for ten years. There are not that many buyers out there for them though, which is probably why I got such a bargain on it as a leftover in the first place.

In other news, local dealerships are claiming record sales lately.

I dont think I could get $4k for my Breva, and it is a 1200 Sport clone with the bikini fairing, corbin seat, full luggage, new tires, and only about 20k miles

Values on Moto Guzzis have been going up for me.  It all depends when and how much you get the bike for.  The last 2 bikes into the Pacific Moto Guzzi Sanctuary were given to me.  '91 1000S & a '93 Cali III.  The green 1000S value....no explanation needed.  The Cali III has 2700 miles on it with Guzzi leather bags/mounts.  Prices on the California Tonti's aren't going up in value but the Sport ones have been.

     Interesting observation Bob; it may be a regional thing, but I have noticed a bizarre upward trend in my area, fwiw,imho.

     I have a personal interest in this, because I lusted after a mint low mileage 1200 Sport available locally a few years ago (I actually posted on wg about it). At that time the seller started off around $6K, (Canadian dollars) when it didn't sell and languished, he brought the price down eventually to $4.5K.

     At that time there were a couple of 1200 Sports for sale in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal etc, all in the $4K-$6K range, they all took forever to move.

     Within the last year, I've seen a few in the Toronto, Montreal area asking $6.5-$8.5K, but I think the higher prices, "might" have been sellers conditioning potential buyers rather than actual selling prices, fwiw.

     The largest 2 valve engine in a nice capable roadster chassis, makes it very desirable imho.

     If someone ever mcgyvered a cheap easily doable work around for the dash, I think prices would sky rocket, jmho.

     I know you agonize about that bike and what to do with it, because you love it so much and it no longer "logically" suits your needs; I empathize with you because I'm going through a similar struggle with my '85 GMC Jimmy 4X4 with 6.2 diesel w ATS turbo kit with 4" lift on solid axles. They don't make 'em like that any more, but it's need of major body work to get put back on the road.

Sage advice Nolan. I'd rather have 1 of the right bike than 5 of the wrong bike.  Of the CARC bikes, the 12S is the right bike.
I know 2 dealers who kept them for their private collection.  But it's too new to begin to appreciate.

It will be interesting to watch as the months pass and things start settling into the new normal. Will these bikes continue to rise in value or has the highwater mark was already reached and starting to recede??
