V7III mystery M1 warning light
« on: June 24, 2020, 03:23:43 PM »
2017 V7III Special. 2,404 miles. I rode about 50 miles to the Va Guzzi lunch meet Sat. After lunch, when I fired up the bike for the ride home....the amber M1 warning light stayed on. (oh s***) There were no other lights or messages so I rode a few miles to see if it went out...no joy. I pulled off into a shady spot & got out the "use & maintenance" bible. After carefully rereading what it had to say, w/no "general alarm" light or messages on the display, I started the bike & gave the motor a careful listen, sounded fine. So I rode it on home. Ran great, no problems. I started it up a few minutes ago & the damn light is still on, WTF???
Thanks,
ronkom

Did you check the tire pressure? Someone else just posted about an odd trouble. A low tire put the traction control out of calibration

ZZ,
Yea, checked the tire pressure Sat morning before heading out. However, I used the pressures written inside the "bible" cover by the PO. I'll look them up myself & recheck to be sure.  Can't exactly set the points w/a match book cover & get yourself back on the road w/these new electronic marvels!!

I've had the general warning light on my V7III S come on a couple of times. I connected Guzzidiag and the light went out each of those times and stayed off--no error codes.

I had this happen on my V7 III

It was a sticky starter switch. The switch didn't spring back when released, which caused the MGCT to change modes. Holding down the starter switch when the engine is running toggles the mode. When it's in the OFF mode the amber light is switched on.

Took a little while to figure out. A clean up of the switch fixed it.

This may not be your problem, but it's worth a look.

I have the same bike, the check engine light has come on a few times for no good reason, it usually goes out but a couple of times I have resorted Guzzi Diag,
