Maybe under turnbuckle. Put your thinking cap on.
I found these in the UK but with $40 shipping on a $4 hinges its a bit cost prohibitive. On the UK site they are called "hinge link" but nothing comes up as that in the good ole US of A. I've tried Grainger, McMaster Carr, MSC local hardware stores.....nuffin.Looking for versions in about 1" wide to add hinges to some Tusk pannier lids.
you can buy a thousand for just $2.16 (or one for $4.68)https://www.protex.com/80-638MSZN-hinge-link-mild-steel-zinc-plate-passivate-silver-blue
They look like they wouldn't be that hard to make if you can TIG weld or maybe braze/silver solder.Rich
I have access to some of the best SS TIG welders in the industry and an industrial sheet metal and pipe fab shops. Rolling the edges over the wire bail would take equipment to make it look professional. Even if we had this edge rolling equipment 15 minutes of dead labor costs would more than cover the $40 in shipping from the UK. In the past as much as I've tried to manufacture items readily avalaible to save money, while i can usually do it it usually only cost me abot 5X as just buying.
Possibly search Articulating Hinge, woodworkers use something similar for hidden hinges on box lids. HTH Paul B
Use a nylon or leather strap? Or a door latch like this, bend the long strap 90 degrees.
I've searchedArticulating Double articulatingBail WireOffsetOverlapOffset overlapStrapOffset strap90 degree/straigt strapSurface mountLidMetal lidMetal lid with an overlapping lidBox lid ....and just about every other term I can thing of for a hinge. Surely the site in the UK is has not cornered the market on this seeming obscure hinge?I've poured over at least 4 hinge sepecific sites + all the common hardware suppliers, nothing!
Despite what some think , we aren't the center of the universe Dusty
