1200 Sport bars
« on: July 27, 2020, 10:21:22 PM »
G'day all,
I know this subject has probably been done to death, but my searching skills seem to have let me down.
I am looking at getting a little more clearance between the handlebars and the tank, so I don't crush my thumbs on full lock, and a little more 'pullback' to give me a slightly more upright position.
I know the Aprilia Mana bars are recommended, but they're quite expensive.
Can anye other some suggestions for alternatives to the Mana bars that won't break three bank?
Thanks for looking,
Steve.

I use the ProTaper KX High

work great for me

and under $60 if I recall correctly

Note: the factory bar end weights dont work on these, but I fitted handguards instead

And I now have the bike those Fatbars are on.  FWIW, they measure 31" straight across from end to end, and the have a number on them, 51725, which may or may not mean anything useful.  I am 6'0"" and find them to be about perfect.

When I saw the title to your post, I thought "surely he isn't looking for a set of 1200 Sport handlebars."  Whew!  You're not !

The original OEM bars are brutal.  Thought (10 years ago at the age of 67) I'd have to hire a lift to get me off the bike after its maiden cruise from the dealer in Swanzey, NH to Hudson OH, roughly 300 miles/day x 2 days.

The Mana bars were perfect for me.  You're right, Aprilia isn't shy about their asking price.  But the Guzzi bar end weights will work with them!

I used a set of aftermarket bars (not Aprilia) and also installed risers and it gives a nice riding position on my 1200 Sport. Will check my records to see what I have on there. It was a while ago so can't remember off the top of my head.

I used LSL Superbike bars and ROX risers. It puts the cables and hydraulic lines right at their max amount of play but works OK for me. I would try risers with the stock bars first and see if that works for you. I also replaced the seat with a Corbin so that changes the ergos as well.

G'day Tpeever,
Could I trouble you for the part number or type of risers please?  I had a look on the Rox site and can only find risers to suit a Stelvio.
Thanks,
Steve
