« on: July 28, 2020, 10:53:53 AM »
Heard this on the Howard Stern show. The band Cake, bad Moto Guzzi near the beginning of the song.

To answer the question, $200.00.

I was riding it and stretching bagels in Knoxville when that song hit the radio back in 95.  One of the girls up front gets all excited and starts yelling "Hey Clint, there's a song about your motorcycle on the radio!"

Fast forward a couple of decades and I spent $200 for the next one, even though it's needing a little more work...

You either like Cake or you don't.  I like Cake.

Well lets tie it all together does anyone know how the following are all connected?

1. Howard Stern
2. the Cake song: rock & roll lifestyle (moto guzzi reference)
3. cute girls (possibly in short skirts with long jackets)
4. famous Moto Guzzi fan Billy Joel

********************************************
well nevermind, the person I was thinking of to tie all these together wasnt Billy Joel (famous moto guzzi fan), it was Daryl Hall from Hall & Oates (not a famous guzzi fan, but a famous hater of deer and their ticks)-- so the thread kinda falls apart lol... these 4 things/ppl are NOT actually connected -- as you were gents

Shocked and disappointed -

I would think Nirvana would hold Zeppelin-like status amongst the younger crowd.

It's funny but my kids know more classic rock songs like Zeppelin then they do bands from the 90's.  I think it's the influence of the game Rock Band.

They didn't know who LZ was either . Pink Floyd seems to cross more generations than any band from that era .

I'm a fan of Cake. They certainly do a bunch of covers in their own style. Love their take on War Pigs and Never Gonna Give You Up

TBH you listen to their stuff now and honestly its not that good, revolutionary of the time yes, influential yes but realistically the bands it spawned foo fighters, queens of the stone age, eagles of death metal, pearl jam, audio slave etc etc all much better.

Cake are pretty good IMO although Rock and Roll lifestyle is pretty early on in the discography and the better stuff came latter if you want a undiscovered Cake song up the back of the pressure chief album there is a song called Palm of Your Hand (NGC) I think its on youtube and there is no video clip, if should even appeal to most of the grumpy old buggers that hang around here :P .

Thanks for pointing that out, just listened to it for the first time after you mentioned, that is an interesting take on War Pigs. I like it!
