A week off, recently modified V7III, and mountains calling...
« on: August 10, 2020, 02:57:16 PM »
What a great week!  I really got to bond with my V7III and the mods to the riding position and new exhaust note.

The goal was to stay at higher elevations and enjoy the cooler temperatures.  Most of my riding was in temps from the low 60s to the high 70s.

My base of operations was Roan Mountain State Park in the northeast corner of Tennessee.  My rides took me back and forth between Tennessee and North Carolina.

My camping rig is my DIY cargo to toy hauler conversion that is still a work in progress.

I am posting maps of my rides and some photos.

Many of the rides were done in both directions to enjoy every aspect of the area.  Mountains, rivers, scenic overlooks, and curves, curves, curves.

Well done. That's what it's about.

A mild suggestion - the reflector on the rear guard comes on an arm - designed for fitting the gigantic European number plates. I've found that the arms can suffer an inadvertent mischief and can break off unobserved, I remove the bracket, and replace the reflector in the lowest hole on the mudguard. This tidies it up a little, & I no longer worry about losing it.

Wow, gorgeous pics, and I like how you shared the routes, very cool! Looks like you have a sweet setup to be able to ride virtually any of the stellar roads NA has to offer!

Excellent stuff.  Thanks for the pictures.  And those V7s are looking better and better to me.  :)

An alternative to reflector removal is replacing it with a KiWAV Sirius NS-2332 3-way light as I am doing.

The Red LEDs function as a tail/brake light and the Amber LEDs function as a brake flasher.  Because it's DOT-approved you get your reflector included free! Which is good because this light is expensive.

As you can see from the exposed wires I haven't connected it yet.  I've been installing other farkles and haven't reached this wiring job yet.  Should be next week so I'll post pictures (in another thread so I don't hijack yours any further).  So far just drilling holes; no bent metal required.

Nice. I saw that light used as a tail light with a fender clean up kit.  I already have Skenedesign run/brake led flashing lights on the sides of the license plate.
