Wow, this is a bummer. I sure love helmet laws.

I hope Minnesota gets mandatory helmet laws one day. Nothing would make me happier.

If health insurance, seat belts and life preservers can be mandatory then so can motorcycle helmets. Why should we get choice when no one else does? How fair is that? It isn't.

I love helmet laws.

Helmet laws, mandatory wearing of or not, I wear a helmet. My dad got me riding when I was ten and the first thing he taught me was to wear a helmet. It has been imbedded in my brain. I am not comfortable riding without a helmet. A helmet has protected my skull more than a few times. I wore helmets when I was flying. Protected my head from hard impacts at least once-that I can remember.

All that being said I am not in favor of helmet laws or almost any other laws. For you people that like to poke holes and argue I said "almost". I respect your right to your own opinion.

I honestly don't care if someone doesn't want to wear a helmet, the problem I have with these laws is the mandatory minimum insurance requirements are pretty low. If you die, there is a burden on your family, but if you are seriously hurt and you exhaust your meager insurance with possible burden on the state, then I have a problem with those laws.

The laws should be written to exempt society from that financial burden.

You really think that putting a helmet on someone will make them safe when riding a helmet? Without knowledge to operate a motorcycle, put a helmet on that'll make a rider safe. Yeah....that's it.

For those that are following the thread, all of this in reference to the last time the MGNOC National Rally was held in New Cumberland,WV. I brought in fresh Maui Gold pineapple for Saturday night dinner. Fresh hand crank vanilla ice cream was with the OH contingent.

Being a Crash Dummy while wearing a helmet doesn't work either. MSF courses work better than just wearing a helmet.

Federal Agriculture & USPS rules. Can be done but a real hassle. The pineapple that I brought in was checked baggage into Cleveland International Airport. Long story short I have flight privileges. A case went to Zoom Zoom & Jan. 3 cases went to the rally dinner with some going to the OH contingent with the fresh ice cream. (Buckeye connection)

Thanks for all the great humour in this thread. I had hip replacement surgery today, and now have swathes of spare time on social media.
It was discomfort riding the Le Mans made me get the surgery.
You had me chuckling

Getting back to the original thread.
Think of the poor sod who has to clean up the mess. Not pleasant.
However, freedom of choice is a biggy in my book.

PA did away with the helmet law years ago. All it does is give you a choice.
