Hope it doesn't turn out to be the Elio of the aviation world ... Corporate copy-writers are generally very good at hyperbolic description!

Be neat if it's real ...

Looks to have the lift and glide range of a brick.   Chuck Yeager would be pleased...

The aviators on the list can correct me if I'm wrong, but if this plane will cruise at Mach .8 with less engine than its compatriots and burn less fuel, then it had better have a VERY good glide range.   The engine can't work but SO hard to keep it hustling along and still just sip on the bio-diesel ... ?

Published glide ratio of 22:1
...but it is one ugly aircraft.

This thing is supposed to get 25 mpg on diesel with 6 passengers for a 4k mile range at 500mph.   They want to promote it as an air taxi competitive with commercial first class.   They claim "laminar flow" that's like overdrive in the air.

True or not, someone invested enough to built it.  And a 12 passenger version is in the works.

I won't claim anything I said is true but I'll say I read it on the internet.

I was wondering why it took folks so long to design a laminar-flow airplane, then I realized that the Russians had one in 1913.

Look at THIS streamlined design!  You could even take a walk outside if you got bored ...

If it goes into production it will have the highest-aspect-ratio wing of any commercial passenger aircraft I can think of, which should mean VERY good lift and glide range. The long thin wing, like that of a glider or U2, tips you off that it's all about high altitude, fuel efficiency, or both.

I've been waiting on this since the spy photos came out, at the time there was speculation that it might be a hydrogen-fuelled thing if I recall correctly. Great to have some facts.

I'm kind of surprised that with the CG so far back, they didn't use a canard design. It's an interesting design none the less. Kind of ugly in my eyes though. Maybe an RC model of it will show up at the flying field one of these days.

Laminar flow is a wonderful thing when it is working.. it's easy to break up, though.. flying through a cloud of bugs, rain..
