V9 Sidecovers
« on: October 31, 2020, 08:48:32 PM »
I was looking at some new V9s in the dealership today.
Whats with the side covers, they only cover the top half of the triangle leaving the battery case and air box exposed, it looks half done.
I don't remember the early V9s like that.
There's got to be a market for an add-on to tidy that up.
Sorry, its sideways

I assumed it was done to add more to the ‘bob’ mentality. Or maybe they ran low on their budget for plastics. I think it looks doofy as well. Orrr... maybe they did it on purpose so that folks feel super DIY genius when they insert an aluminum mesh there. Something like this...

Lord knows the V9 is a model already whimpering from the beatdown by the ugly stick. Yes, that’s an opinion, but it’s also scientific fact.

Not just the Bobber, the new Roamer as well, looks positively gross.
Yes, the mesh would look ok, anything would look better than the floppy battery bag.
Don't get me wrong, I really like the V9s more so the Roamer but I would have to tidy those up.

The only point you're right about is that it supports the Bobber style. Forgive me, but the rest seems a bit nonsensical to me.

I don't think you need to buy new covers though, just add on a bottom section of metal or plastic in whatever colour turns you'r crank.
It could be attached to the existing cover or just set behind it, I don't need to see your naughty bits.
My apologies to any V9 owners I might have cheesed off.

The side covers have not changed, they have been the same since inception.  Only the v9 Sport has the larger covers.

Roamer, Bobber never anything but the short style.

Then I guess I had never looked at one that closely, perhaps my Bro's had a Sport style cover, the ones at the dealership just seemed to stand out especially the battery side with a cable draped across at an odd angle.

I totally agree

The other annoying thing is the solo seat

If you run it solo - you end up with a stupid untidy bolt sticking out of the mudguard and if you leave the pillion seat on it goes over the edge of the riders seat so without brute force you can't get the rider seat off

2017 V9 Roamer
2005 Breva 1100 (non ABS) "Bruno" - now sold
1995 Cali 1100 - carby   "Dino" -now sold
1993 TW125 "POS" - Resting

On the bolt issue. Depending on what it does and required strength. You could use something like a stainless socket style button style head bolt. You could even find the dress up plug that goes in it.

I took the solo seat off one and had a heck of a job getting it back on

I guess like most other Guzzi's they just allow you to put your own stamp on it, i'm ok with that, my V7III is just about where I want it now after 18 months and 20,000 km
