I know this is a Guzzi site and I have 2, but there's something about the new Trident that is affecting me and not sure why. It seems the numbers are good and the price is competitive. I thought my current old one would have sworn me off British bikes forever, but there's just something about it. I could actually see trying to work a trade next year on one of the Guzzis. Not out until January 21, so I do have a little time since it will be -10F temps by then.

If that small triple is based on the Daytona 675, then it's got to be a winner.

I have mixed feelings on it. I think you will need to take it for a spin and go from there.

I don’t think it’s actually a British bike, I believe it’s made in Asia.

I have a Triumph triple (Trophy 1215) and it's a really nice, well-made motorcycle. I'd buy any model of Triumph again that suited my fancy.

It's interesting - Cycle World had a writeup on the new Aprilia RS660 which looked really appealing to me as a "personal bike" - a light solo bike for day or weekend trips. This one seems very much like it, but with a triple engine (which I really like the feel of, much like I like the feel of a Guzzi Vtwin), but is priced at about 60% of the Aprilia.

When my Triumph shop gets one in, and I'm in for service sometime, I'll test ride one.

They're made in Thailand, along with virtually all of the other Triumph motorcycles.

When I lived in Aachen, Germany, (2004-2005), I rode this pristine 1993 Triumph Trident 900 for two years, 3-cylinder, 100HP, six speed, chain, liquid cooled, etc. It was a fabulous bike...

The new one is..."MEH"...OK...but does not really float my boat...(just sayin').

They should have made this into a retro-style bike, (IMHO)

While its not as awlful as the 600 super sports as a road bike even in long stroke 800cc tiger guise I still found it to be pretty lifeless below 7000ish rpm.

I'll tell you what does it for me, the standard headlight and tank. It's so refreshing to see a new bike that doesn't look like an insect.

All of these statements can be used by the marketing folks to appeal to the desired audience.

The Royal Enfield is a former British Marquee. The Himalayan is designed by Harris Performance in the UK. It is made in and assembled in India. I guess one has to decide what is important to them.

For me, as long as Triumph controls the design, the materials, and the quality control, I am not concerned that the bikes are assembled in Thailand.

Many Japanese bikes are assembled in Thailand without issue, although when completely built in Japan the bikes seem to carry a little more respect.

For me just a cookie cutter Japanese 600 sportbike look. Over the last 4 yrs. sold 2 T-160's & a 69 T-150.
Great bikes but just kept my modern non-Thaiumph 03 Bonny I bought new for my 50th BD

I am sure its a blast to ride, but I am not a big fan of the "bobtail look" that is so prevalent these days. The bikes end at the seat. to me it looks like part of the bike is missing. it should at least have a small "tail" like a Griso!

Except that the aforementioned bikes are both air cooled. I would have to see how this new Trident compares with the MT-07 or its XSR variant.

Lookin longer at the new Trident, it does look like fun! The price is nice and the components are good enough. For the target market, this might hit the sweet spot, if I were sub 30 years old I think I would be all over it.

As it is I will like it from a far, as I am hung up old school, and I want my bikes made where they started, but that's just me.

Jim, put your self in a pre order! And by the way, come out to the Dekalb breakfast this Sat, we will be dinning outside, and it's going to be lovely weather to take one of your dinosaurs out for a walk!

Tried to finally get a bike out of storage today and two dead odyssey batteries later I was pulling batteries to recharge. Hopefully a 2020 inaugural ride tomorrow on the two Guzzi's. Buell blast started fine. I almost took that one home.

I dont know anything about any of the engines on any of those 5 bikes. 'looks like'

I like the new Trident. But it reminds me of the sticker shock when I bought parts for my 98 Sprint EX. Triumph parts are pricey, but I guess all bike parts are now.

well beside the farkles, Triumph CLAIMS the parts of services are supposed to be cheaper for this bike.

On top of that, 10K service interval!!!

I think a ADV version of this platform would be pretty good, weight and power wise.
