"Just for fun. Don't give into the need to justify why you don't like where you are, just tell us where you would be if you had whatever reasonable resourcesneeded to be there. Everything plays a part, geography, present governments, climate and so on. For this exercise you can't change what is, and where it is. "I'll never leave the USA. IF the great Fairy Godcamel left me a huge pile of shekles, and I wanted to escape for awhile: Easy. Switzerland. The German speaking part. Pristine. Very low crime rate. Roads, clinics, standard of living all very high. It's the crossroads of Europe, so lots of interesting visitors passing through, and also very easy to get around using public transport. Most everyone speaks English, along the tourist or diplomatic trail. They have a stabile currency not dependent on the EU. Not the most sociable place in the world, but I'm not a social butterfly anyway. They don't get tangled up in wars, and the entire world comes to their doorstep to do business, diplomacy, charitable work, technology. Never run out of things to see, great roads, and a train ride away most anything in Europe.
I know a couple from Portland OR that retired and moved to a lake community in Mexico. I was told the cost of living, climate, quality of life and healthcare are outstanding. I've looked at apartment prices in the South of France, Spanish Coast and Portugal and all seem affordable with climate and healthcare as well. Many have mentioned Costa Rica as great place to move. I am more interested in Uruguay which is perhaps the most progressive country in the world.Canada is a logical choice but it's close enough to the US that it could be invaded and ex-patriots hunted down. The Netherlands is perhaps the most logical place on earth but I have no idea what the language is about. Housing is expensive. Then there are New Zealand and Australia, I understand immigration is quite difficult to both. Some of the practical drawbacks are language and driving rules. Some countries drive on the left side of the road and I have no idea what language they speak in Australia or how to learn it.For now I'll stick where I am at. But with the world the way it is, yes, I've considered moving over the last few years.
My wife and I could live anywhere but have no desire to be anywhere then where we are..... within the lower 48! If it gets too hot, we go north. When it gets too cold we go south. I've lived and traveled in many states for 60+ years and still have not see it all.Nobody says it better then Lee Greenwood!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_p7eW5BUpA&list=RD0_p7eW5BUpA&index=1

No idea what the Ozzies speak , the Kiwi I see ever year informs us the Ozzies are just making it up as they go along anyway Dusty
Tasmania would suit me very well. I spent a week in the northern end some years ago.
We antipodeans don't really speak much at all. Principally just a range of grunts & hand gestures. As for which side of the road we drive.... most of us have never learned to drive. In fact much of the southern continent doesn't have roads at all. Just Camel & Dingo tracks.
You can buy a piece of Sealand and become a citizen but your title needs be renewed every ten years. Living there is basically as a guest of the royal family is a tenuous proposition.

Haven't traveled overseas that much, but so far, I would have to say New Zealand (south island)
For those that want to live in Ozzie just remember, "if it's not trying to eat you it's trying to kill you". Their Drop Bears are lethal!
Have met several of your countrymen at the museum , and like Will Rogers , haven't met one I didn't like .
Having grown up as an Air Force Brat I'd have to say returning to Germany would likely be my logical choice.
New Zealand (but it so far, I would be worried about earthquakes, immigration policy is said to be pretty tight).Norway. Might end there. I'm opposite totally free to go Norway even as it does not belong to EU. Since 1950's citizens of Nordic countries have had full rights to travel, move, study, work, live in another Nordic countries .... totally freely / just like that. And I'm already citizen of two of those .
