A stroke of genius! I guess I wasn't right in my analysis of the crankshaft position sensor as it had some dust on it and 2 metal shavings about .5 mm on it before I cleaned it. I didn't consider that as unusual however, that cured the patient! Took the bike out for 140 miles and the bike ran very well. All sorts of roads and up to 3,300ft and I got 41mpg in semi-spirited riding. Got 43 mpg yesterday and should be on the long haul on freeways about 46-48. Not bad considering, and a big thanks goes out to you guys...

now do the front one and don't lose the O ring or shims. I guarantee you the TPS needs work too. Sitting under the injector it gets an occasional fuel drip that evaporates but leaves some scum.
