So is this too cheap or way too expensive? I can never tell with loop frame fans.

If Cycle Garden was selling this bike they would be asking $20,000. But then they are probably on the extreme high end. But from my understanding $8,500 for this featured Eldo would be a hell of a deal.

If I could trust that everything was done correctly, and wanted this style and vintage bike, I would be willing to pay that for pretty much a new "old bike".

I enjoy the look of this particular bike, but I would have to enjoy riding it as well, or it would just sit up on a table like my 2010 Cafe Classic did.

For $8500, couldn’t you get a low mileage Eldorado 1400? If so, that would be much more practical to me. One’s a show pony and one’s a go pony. Depends on priorities I guess.

It's a 2LS drum-brake Eldo, so his asking price is really about what it's worth, regardless of how nice it is.

Wow!  That's a super nice Eldo!!!    If I didn't have mine I would be all over that one at that price.  You couldn't restore one to that level for that money.

IMHO, it is reasonably priced.  I bought a low mileage '72 Eldo in 2013 that was in good overall condition from the original owner.  I then proceeded to address all the items listed in the above mentioned ad....myself.  I have almost as much money invested (including purchase price) in my Eldo as the asking price for the Eldo  we're discussing here.  However, I didn't do any cosmetics...paint, chrome, extensive polishing, etc.  So, that's why I think advertised Eldo reasonably priced.

Maybe it is the camera angle but something looks 'off' on it.  The front turn signals and the tool box don't look straight.
Nice looking overall though.

His receipts are more then his price.  The tank patch is painted silver, not chrome, nice trick.

here's what I get,

yeah, thats exactly what I get. If you dont have facebook, you can't see it.

You may be thinking 'sometimes i can see facebook ads even tho I dont have it' that is because of the privacy settings the person has put up the ad has on their account.

I get it, it's frustrating. But for some reason some people, businesses, and organizations think that just because they have FB, everyone must be on there.
I call it their loss, I'm not getting on facebook. If they want my biz or to sell me their bike, they would have a real biz web page or post their scooter on a site anyone can view. Them's the breaks.

You can also see it on Denver Craigslist.

There’s an all-to-common fallacy here. It’s that a restored bike or car is worth at least as much as it cost to restore it.  Having restored an Eldo myself, I don’t doubt that the seller has $8k in this bike.  The selling price is determined by market forces, though, not by what the seller has in it.  Will an Eldo restored by an unknown guy (as opposed to Moe at Cycle Garden) sell for $8k +?  We’ll see.

Thanks for spotting that.  I hadn't looked that closely, but now that I have it is obvious it is silver paint.  With that bit of deceptive advertising this bike is somewhat tarnished in my mind.

Out of curiosity I messaged the seller and asked why he didn't chrome the tank indents after all the other work he went to. Will see if he responds.

Originally the entire tank was chromed first.  The panels were masked off, and the remainder etched for paint.  IMO, The chromed tanks with correct paint, stripes and decal is the nicest part of the loops.  That Harpers seat doesn’t fit up well with the tank either.

Just got a response back from the seller concerning the tank chrome. He said it was too expensive. Hmmm. After all that he has appeared to spend on this bike seems out of character to cut corners there IMHO.

I don't pay much attention to the bikes for sale by Cycle Garden - west coast prices are high to start with & CG is extreme even in that environment.  I have noticed that most of the CG loops advertised here or on ebay sit around for a year or more before finally disappearing from the listings (sold or just moved to the back of the garage?).  That represents overhead costs that they wouldn't have if they listed their bikes at more reasonable prices & sold them quicker.  On the other hand, it's their shop & they can use whatever business model they want.
