Maybe.  I haven't read the spec's for a comparison.  I think the engine might be tuned "hotter".

No. Not a V-twin. This bike has a version of the 1100 parallel twin used in the Africa Twin. All new bike.

It must suck being a motorcycle designer when you have to design bikes for people who know nothing about them.  After seeing this thread, I watched a few clips of people riding this abomination and noticed that their knees are higher than their hips.  Terrific if you want to occasionally rest your chin on your knees, but other than that, it's going to be uncomfortable.

They don't ride them long enough to worry about being uncomfortable.

I don't know what you are watching?  Looking at this video, you can clearly see the rider ahead, and his knees are well below his hips.

I'd hate to be seen in public riding a bike that ugly. Take a boring bike and then vandalize it with a spray can of flat paint.

Thanks Wavedog!  My attention deficit kicked in after the first several seconds of the video but new version of Mother Honda's 1100 parallel twin still doesn't interest me.  I probably shoulda realized that Honda has more than one configuration of an 1100cc engine or watched the whole video.

Which is why the narrator says, "I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm a little bit cramped".

I checked a few different clips with riders of different sizes and concluded: Knees high, butt low.  That's not the formula for comfort.

For me I really dont care for the look, and while I have not sat on one, I dont think it was built for my 6'3" 250lb size...  That being said I know a lot of women, and smaller guys like the smaller Rebels, so having one that it their size, AND with more motor is a good thing. Along that line, Im happy to see them make a "bigger" bike for smaller people. I hope they sell a ton of them.

If I am going to buy a cruiser from Honda, I want it to look and fit just like this, but have FI, disk brakes, and LED lighting in smaller housings.

When I bought that bike new in 1986 it was a bike I hoped to have forever.  10 months later a Cherokee slid through his turn and T-boned me while I was sitting still.

Every year after the 1985 model, Honda kept dumbing down the bike wondering why they weren't taking a larger bite out of Harley.  They added in vibration, eventually going from this 6 speed transmission to a 4 speed.  They probably dumped the hydraulic clutch for a cable but I can't confirm that.

That was around the same time Harley wanted to copyright the exhaust note of their bikes.
