lift for v7 iii

I know the flat ones wont because our exhaust is below the frame, but this one I think should work since i can just position the two saddles on the frame on the left and right.

I need this to take off the forks and to drop the rear shocks so I can install the rear rack. Anyone have experience using a lift like this and would it work for my purposes?

That should work for what you want. I guessing you don't have a center stand?

When you do the forks, just put the jack under the engine (I think your engine is flat on the bottom?)with out the little stands. Also put the trans in gear so it wont roll away.

EDIT: I wanted to add that I would NOT lift the entire bike with this. Just the front or rear.

It should work, I assume you want to pick up the rear end lifting it by the pipe across just behind the canister

Don't be put off by my complicated bracket, if you have a welder make it out of steel say 1-1/2 x 3/8" bar, I can give you the dimensions.
It bolts to the lift using existing holes. The far end is cut back to clear the side-stand switch.
I made this specifically for doing the rear end greasing/tire changes, I have a different setup for lifting the front wheel off.

I bought this lift at Harbor freight for I think about $80 after the 20% off coupon. I don’t weld so I used a piece of three-quarter inch plywood and just built up both sides with wood. The piece on the left has a little angle to accommodate the angle of the front bottom part of the crank case. The piece on the right supports the frame right behind the crossover pipe. Works well and pretty stable.

Yes.  I have one and use it on my V7II with centerstand.  Recommended.  I prefer to use it lifting only one wheel at a time, with a wheel chock, and/or with tiedowns on my lift.  You can make a simple tiedown setup with some 2x4s and eyebolts. 
Can also be used without the extra extensions and with a 2x4 on the bottom of the engine, but not as stable.

I believe my lift is a similar pattern, it's the best investment I ever made, I adapt it for all my bikes.

I'd suggest you go to harbor freight and buy their lift table for $300 with the omnipresent coupon. Also buy the Harbor Freight wheel chock for $40 and you'll be set. It will bring the work to you. The beauty is if you pull the bike into the chock a piece of 2 x 4 and the scissors jack out of your car will life the rear of the bike off the deck or flip the bike around to get the front wheel off the ground.

Its an investment in you back and makes everything from basic service to full on rebuilds much easier.  I don't even bend over to check the tire pressure anymore. I pull the bike on the life and bring the work to me.

As  aside note a life doesn't take anymore space than the bike. When not in use park the bike on it. Or it also serves as a work bench or we even use ours as a table when we do outdoor parties. Throw a table cloth over it and it great for extra space to set crock pots, veggie/meat platters etc.
