I like these things. Kind of reminds me of this.
Was the wind protection any good?

Very good, but in hot weather at slow speeds you can cook.

I had one new in 94, sold it to pay taxes in 97 at 40K mi. I'd buy it again. It was the 1st of new world motor. No more re-torquing heads at 1st service.. They are 35ftlbs now The beginning of spring chain tensioner & deep spline clutch hub. I had a Gold one. I also got clocked by cops at 135mph.
Cold bike in winter all cooling air exits forward of legs, nice air riding it. Stay in the pocket and won't get wet in the rain.

STEVE!! that was 'champagne' gold!!

there are times I wish I could turn back the clock.
when I bought my '93 Cal III from Joe Eish, he offered the SP III as an alternative.

Steve,
So still has Carbs, but would it have a digital ignition?
Anything to look out for on this one?
Are those Bub mufflers?
I assume the engine is the medium valve.

I have the same bike here in Colorado.  The fairing is super efficient, but it is definitely hot in the summer.  It also limits rider size to about 5-10 or so.  Mine is going in my spring fleet reduction sale if anyone is interested.

I would love to have a complete fairing like this foe my EV side car project. I really like the looks of it.
If anyone hears of used fairing for sale please let me know.

I assume the engine is the medium valve.

It has Digiplex ignition, 36mm carbs and the World medium valve engine.

Those look like Lafranconi's which is what I had on my bike.

The only issue is trying to find replacement fairing parts like the belly pan but they do show up every once in awhile on eBay. And it is not a passenger friendly bike, as the passenger will slide into the rider on even mildly hard stops. I sold mine to buy a Norge which my wife preferred over the III.

Blackcat,

Thanks, just talked to the owner. He has a guy headed down from Bangor tomorrow morning, who will most likely take it. I’m next in line.

That bike has been advertised before, at least a couple of years ago, and I think he had others he was culling from the fleet. I was surprised it didn't sell then, sometimes timing is everything. Always too far away from me.

This was my '93 SP1000-III back in the day when I lived in NORCAL.
Great bike overall, but my wife often complained of constant "helmet buffeting" at highway speeds, so I sold it to a guy in New Jersey.  He was T-boned at an intersection a year later, but came out unhurt (thankfully!!)
Anyway, a very capable solo touring bike overall... :thumb:     Handsome Guzzi!!
