A pictorial timeline

Over the journey there have been about 40 road registered bikes, some I’ve owned twice..
But if you were to show an image of the journey that highlights the main influences of your biking experience, how would it look.
Some of these are not the actual bike I owned, but replicas I found images of.





These (for me) notables, have had others interspersed between, but represent the journey, (not exactly in order at the end..

Remarkably few bikes, from 34 years of riding.  But 24 of those years were on the same bike.
Here's the early small-bike period, about 6 years.  I still own all three of those scooters.
















Here's the later bigger bike period.  The red Ducati M900 Monster is the one I rode for 24 years, and 265K miles.
The pic of that one is on the weekend it turned over 250K miles.
The yellow one is my current bike, pictured here loaded to get from NH to Minneapolis, for a several-month stay.
















Some of these are pics of examples other than mine; I've never been much of a picture-taker, and don't have photos of all my bikes.

I have a book called Classic Motor Bikes.  I listed all the bikes I have owned, purchased price and selling price in the inner cover.  25 motorcycles since 1972 and in the black.

Recently sold 3.  Last two are my 2003 Franken Guzzi and Buell Blast. 

Many of the motorcyes are in the book.  I have photos of the ones that are not between the pages. My personal history book for the next generation to enjoy.

Huzo:  I see you've had your share of Suzuki Two-Smokers!  I owned two 380 triples, one 1975 (last year in the states?) GT500 Titan, and a 1976 GT550.  Never could swing it for a Water Buffalo, as much as I would have loved to have owned one.  By the time I could afford one, most were worn out junk.  So I moved on to four-stroke street bikes.

Yeah Mike.
I had a GT 550 as well.. (owned it twice..!). There’s still something about the “pang pang pang” sound of the 380’s and the  “poong poong poong” of the 750 that says everything about being a kid. Then there’s THAT SMELL...
Suzuki’s just sort of drew my eye in those days, always felt more at home on them.

That's great!   I'll  have to try that one in the near future. 

I have owned and ridden 34 bikes in the 54 years...and this is the only one closest to the bikes you have shown.

     Hey Phil,  I notice a common theme in those bikes. 

          It appears that you have thing for slow, sluggish, unresponsive cruiser style motorcycles, lol. 

          What an impressive collection of road rockets,

          I can't help but notice that over the years the faster color seems to be the favorite choice.

Hard to go wrong with a red motorcycle:) My in bikes is changing though as I get older, I'd prefer a less committed style of bike now, at least for the road. I'm amazed with the latest hyper sports bikes but don't see the point any longer for my needs. I still have the GSXR1000 track bike, the 1198 and the 1000ss but none of them are used on the road, that's the domain of the V11. I'm quite keen to buy a new Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 which amazes even me. Never thought I'd entertain the idea of a modest bike like that 10 years ago.
