Burned Pants with Agostini Exhaust?
« on: May 05, 2021, 11:06:16 AM »
I am trying to decide between Mistral and Agostini long exhausts for my V7III.  One major difference is that the Agostini does not have a heat shield over the pipe just behind the foot pegs. The stock and Mistrals do.  I read somewhere that someone was burning their pants on this area and trying to find shields. It is right where you put your feet down when stopped.
I ride with loose Klim pants and would occasionally have a baggy rain suit regardless. Is this really an issue?

I might be especially clumsy, but I wouldn't want to ride without those heat shields.

I routinely touch them and am happy that the damage is usually minimal or only a reminder to not put your leg there ;)
EDIT: I'm also quite small, that might be a factor too.

Cheers,
D.

If you think it's an issue, go for the pipes with a heat shield.  I did burn a 'stitch on my Ago pipes-I'm now now careful.

They might be heat shields on the stock mufflers but they are also a fire source, the insulation under the shield burns very hot if ignited, ask me how I know.

Well I went for the Agostini ones because I like their shape better. I guess that I am going to buy or make some less obtrusive shields to cover those areas.  If anyone has seen some generic ones I would like your input. Thanks

I will be ordering some generic shields for my Agostin pipes any day now. Probably one of the ones postedcopied in the links.

My eyes watered when I saw the heading, then I recalled that we're separated by a common language.
