Stone seems like the way to go. If you like the modern look, Bob's yer uncle.  My only reservation on the stone was lack of tach, and even without it, I still prefered the cast wheels and no chrome...  Now that the stone has a tacometer, no chrome, and LED lighting all around, seems like the obvious choice.  Looks much better without the 850 graphic on the tank than the Special has as well.

Rode an 850 special. So Mostly the same. Coming from my V7III, the 850 has much better suspension, a lighter clutch and lugs less at low RPM's. Improved all around but still feels familiar IMO.

So I say go for it.

I bought a black Stone 850 about 4 weeks ago.  I agree with all comments, and add that it is 45 lb heavier than the V7II (don't know about the V7III), and it does feel heavier.
