QA throttle for 1100 Sport Carb

I have a quick throttle on my 95 Sport, can't remember where it came from. It was awhile ago.

That looks more like a push pull arrangement that was on most Carbed ducati's I have a quarter turn Domino twin pull throttle works fairly well although you would need to look at going to the mid weight delorto springs on the slides the light ones don't have enough force to stop the motor drawing the slides open under vacuum. The reason the sport's throttle is three and a half turns is to lighten up the twist effort, or fit a set of FCR's.

OK, thanks guys, medium springs is probably a good place to start, just seems such a common annoyance that there doesn't seem to be a regular fix.

Not concerned that the pull will be too heavy ?

Will try it with medium springs, it's either heavy throttle or awkward throttle, not much choice. If it's still too heavy then maybe back to original throttle with medium springs.

With lighter springs ( can't remember if they were the medium or light springs). Ditched the bellcrank and changed to flat top carbs too. Seems to work OK and not too bad on the wrists.

From Guzziology
Springs that come standard on PHF36 (1493 8650 or 2893 8650)
(1793 7167) may still be an option.
Their jetting recommendations are a good starting point also. Wider powerband for sure.

There are two throttles mentioned here
2c tomaselli original on le mans t3, Ducatis, Laverdas etc etc
With light springs gives easy pull but is 120 deg with 40 mm. Carbs not quick by modern standards
Domino Q/A twinpull
No problem with same springs but is true 90 deg and therefore heavier to pull
Racebike ,yes , but I’d recommend the slower pull, lighter 2c for road bike

Quality cables are the really important thing

I'll get a proper photo latter but this looks to be the best match to what I have. Each cable goes directly to the individual carb.

Jackson/Murray - twin pull looks like the best way to go, I'm only willing to go as far as medium springs, but will try it with the original springs first. Not looking for ultra quick, just not 2 handfulls. The Laverda has a similar problem, fitted a Tomaselli Commander years ago with the a single pull as throttle is not that heavy.
I need to find a source for cables here in the UK, seems a bit hit and miss from other posts I've read, outer length is fine but inner is either too short or too long. I need to make some careful measurements first.

For cables either a pushbike shop a harley/cruiser shop where they do silly stuff like ape hangers, classic bike or a flexiable drive supplier should be able to make whatever you want to order. The modern sports touring tyres in the dry at least will handle whatever to old sport will spit out in almost every situation so I wouldn't be too concerned about needing to moderate the throttle too precisely.

I've had a Tomaselli dual cable quick throttle on my '85 LM1000 with bellcrank 40s and light springs. Never had any issue. I did cut the rod springs back so they didn't touch anything until above 1/2 throttle or so, nice light feel around town.
