I don't know if it's "Fantastic" but other ways people eat "French Fries". Pomme frites....who doesn't like them???

That's where the double cooking rule comes in and of course the oil needs to get cooking temp.

After living / working in Aachen, Germany (2004-2005), I always remembered that the Dutch and the Belgium's always liked their French Fries with......MAYONNAIS E!!

Pacific NW. "Fry sauce". Mayo/ketchup aka Thousand Island. Some people like their fries with honey.

I had a classmate that put ketchup on everything he ate. On jello, on coleslaw, cornbread.....every thing. He'd take the stuff and put it on fruit cocktail. 🤦‍♂️

Essentially, cheese fries with brown gravy. That's the simple version.

The better version is hand cut fries. Beef gravy from scratch with spices. Cheese curds that squeek when you bite into them.

Excellent for packing on calories for the cold weather. Same as getting chicken fried steak w/biscuits and gravy or mash w/gravy.

Best I've had are at Orlandos Mexican Cafe in Taos New Mexico. They beer batter the fries and smother them in cheese and red and green chile.

Potato wedges fried in the same grease that fries the Chicken and then dipped in brown gravy. But, haven't had them since I was in my early 30s and was burning calories as fast as I could consume them.

For years now we have been baking sweet potato fries in the oven. Then dipping in honey mustard.

I have a homemade Carolina Reaper, Poinsettia pepper vinegar that works well on fries and ham green beans and potato's.

Having grown up in Montreal, I heartily ( Or is that heart attackilly?) agree. One of the best poutines in Montreal is made by a real old school greasy spoon restaurant called La Roulotte in the West Island. They've tarted up the facade but it's still eighties decor inside.

Here in Ottawa they've taken the basic recipe (Fries, cheese curds and gravy) to the next level. With a large Lebanese population we have delicious shawarma places all over town. So of course: Shawarma poutine! An intoxicating but artery blocking combo. Out of respect for my ticker, I have only one a month.

Chips and french fries are superficially similar, but are actually different beasts. Chips are fat and should be cooked in lard or beef dripping. Fries are skinny, crisp and cooked in oil. I'd not eat fries with battered haddock, nor chips with a burger.
