I always thought the 750s were cool with that big chrome fan of mufflers on either side.

Motor was more or less a copy of the CB500 with 2 extra jugs, yes?

The 750 Sei, in top condition has been fetching $15 ~ $18K in the past couple of years. I would love to won one but not for that kind of money.

Most of the 750 Sei units that Cosmopolitan brought in had the transmissions rebuilt under warranty, the dogs on the sliders broke up and were replaced with a better but not perfect design, apparently the 900 Sei shift slider dogs resolved the issue. I have read that Cosmopolitan were so pissed with Benelli's handling of the transmission warranties that the relationship bascily ended over it, anyone able to conform that?

With respect to the engine being a copy of the Honda CB550 four I have read that less than ten parts interchange, though the vlaves and pistons will 'fit' the clearances are not correct and using Honda pieces will foul in the Benelli motor.

Selwynn Stickler in the UK is the worldwide recognized expert on these bikes. He has been featured a couple times in British Bike mags when they highlight the 750 Sei or the 500 Quattro.

Oh, yeah -  Mr. Honda's lawyers would have had something to say about an "EXACT" copy, eh?

So there’s the proof..
It IS a Honda and a half...(leaning forwards a bit with different shaped fins and a couple of other trifling differences.)

If I recall correctly, a 6 cylinder Honda prototype was stolen at some point and some time later the Benelli version showed up and some of the parts were interchangeable with Honda parts.

For that kind of money I would rather have a first or second year CBX (with completely irresponsible 6 into 6 pipes.)

I know of 2 Touring models with the sandwich panniers in NYC.  Low mileage and in beautiful shape.
