Heading Out To Cadre
« on: August 27, 2021, 04:02:10 AM »
Enzo called yesterday morning to tell me that my V7-850 Stone Centenario had just been dropped off.  I am ready to roll out of the driveway to make the 6 hour drive to Cincinnati.

More to follow.

May the wind be always at your back.  Enjoy your trip.  Your trade looks pretty tasty.  I am sure it will find a new home in our area pretty quickly.  Cadre does a great job selling the used bikes.  They price them fairly and sell them quickly, especially used Guzzis.

Way to go Dave.  Now when you get the 850 home, pack it up and join us at the Ohio rally over Labor Day weekend.

What a day!!

I left at 4 am to beat the Chicago madness.  I didn't realize that lots of Cannonball Run/ Mad Max wannabees use the highways at that hour for careening from one side of the highway to another at well over 100 mph from everything to sports jobs to Honda Accords!  NUTS.   Even some of the semis join in the "fun".

400 miles later I arrive at Cadre and am helped with unloading my V7.   Everyone including Enzo thought my V7 was super nice, and it is of course.

Enzo was busy accepting cash from another customer so I kept my self busy taking in the well appointed shop.

Soon it was my time in the hot seat.     We had a great conversation, mostly about Guzzi - no surprise.  Enzo is certainly a guy any of us would like to hang out with and talk bikes!

Even though the bike was delivered yesterday the crew had it all ready for me yesterday afternoon.  Here we are just before loading my new baby in the van.

Another 400 mile drive home!  I was home before dark and of course had to unload and take it for a spin.  I only put about 10 miles on it but it is very much a grin producing machine, even thought the shift warning blinks at you at 4500 rpm (until first service). This will definitely be a great bike, I can tell already.  Once I can open it up and give it a good romp it will feel like a hooligan "lite" bike.

It is on the lift ready for the Mistrals.  The sewing machine sound must go.

Off to the sack!  I am beat!

Gorgeous bike! Congrats  :thumb:

Cadre sounds like a dream dealer in  much the same vein as Jim Hamlin. 400 miles is nothing when you can get service like that.

great looking scoot. i am not thinking of letting go of the v85, but when i test rode the new V7, i was totally impressed. you will be too.  it just seems to work so much better on every level than the already good, but getting long in the tooth 750 versions.

i have known Enzo (Cadre)  since he was selling BMW bikes at the late, great BMW of Cincinnati in the early 2000s.  Of course, he was younger and better looking in those days (weren't we all).  I bought a 2004 RT from him then and honestly, he was just the same as today when it came to the transaction.  i am sure that he had in mind then what this dealer has become now.  he and his crew are all enthusiasts for the brand.  all in.
we have a new guzzi dealer in the Mt. Sterling/Winchester, KY area, Gateway Cycles.  i have not had a chance to get there, but like cadre's path, they started as a used bike dealer.  my son bought a used africa twin from them and reported a very good experience, so hopefully it is the same for guzzi.  what an abundance of riches to have two good dealers within 100 miles of home. not bragging, just feeling fortunate.
for some reason it seems that some dealers have better luck dealing with piaggio than others.  i hope Gateway figures out the right way to massage them.

I had no intention of shifting off my beloved V7.  It had been one of my all time favorites.  I test rode a V7-850 at the National just after getting off a lengthy day ride on my 2015.  Jim Hamlin told me to "be prepared to be impressed".   I was really hoping it wasn't going to be that big of a deal and I would return from the test ride with no desire to upgrade.   The improvements over the old V7 was just too much to deny.

Dry 436 lb

Mistrals are on and sound good with the db killers in.  They are a bit quieter than the Mistrals on my earlier V7 as they have built in catalytic converters to maintain Euro 5 emission standards.  I will probably experiment with the db killers out and see how they sound.  I never bothered taking the db killers out of the old V7 as I thought the volume was about right.   This is a super fun bike!!

Fascinating.  I wonder how they shed a full 10lb and still incorporate catalytic converters?
Perhaps I’m looking at something different, but MG Cycle list them as “off road only”.
