LM3 and the after Market Header design mystery
« on: September 09, 2021, 05:55:36 AM »
Ciao Tutti,

Always wondered with the LM3 (possibly other T models as well) who came up with this different header design, where the initial bent right out of the cylinder, is of smaller diameter than the OEM...  Personally I prefer the OEM design, to me it flows more with the bike...

Anyone knows??

Those look like BUB headers; they were probably sized and shaped that way based on results from a Dyno. Form follows function?

No it has the regular H-pipe which sits under the tranny...
These were made by a company in the UK www.keihan.co.uk, they probably replicated Bub's design...
Keihan also builds a set of Replica Lafranconi Riservato Competition for LM3 #1129, build exactly like the originals but in SS and no RC stampings...

Mistral also build a set of headers with the high crossover keeping the OEM shape like their standard headers...
