I tried another V100 yesterday.  This one is a 23 Navale with 500 miles on the bike but a new engine replaced under warranty.  This is for sale btw at Cadre for the same price as a new V7, under $9,000.  If you have wanted one, this may be the one to get as it is literally brand new.
I will not be getting it however.  I noticed the shifting since it has been discussed a lot recently.  You want your front brake lever applied for when it goes into 1st.  It never bulked, but there was a bit of a lurch as it slipped in.  I had no trouble locating neutral either.  It was a little different than the air cooled Guzzis I have had recently but would be no big deal for me.  As for the rest, this would have been perfect for me about 15 years ago.  A new level of performance for Guzzi but not as demanding as the sporty Ducatis of the time.  Now, it just asks too much of me from the standpoint of the riding position.  So, I have faced the fact that I must be a confirmed air cooled guy.  I am really looking forward to the V7 Sport coming to town, with the improvements and cruise control, it may finally be time to move on from the 1400.  BTW, 80 mph is only 4,000 rpm on that beast.  No aerodynamics for that bike, just blunt force shoving the air aside.  V100 = formula one; 1400 = NASCAR

I put Rox risers on mine, the adjustable ones. A 1" lift and also allowed the bars to rotate backwards. Made for a more upright riding position. I just recently discovered that at a stop the shifter will stop in neutral from 1st. Very handy, don't have to even look at the neutral light or the gear indicator.

"...It sounds like you just really don't want to ride the bike...The '26 Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory looks like a fold up and hunch over the tank bike. Do you plan on riding it?...

As I mentioned earlier, that shift from neutral into first on the V100 annoys me so much that given a choice between the three bikes that I have, it's third on the list.  The Tuono has a handlebar like the V100 and V7 Stone, so a more upright riding position.  The RS is the one with the hunched over riding position, and it costs $2K more than the Tuono, so I think I'll be good.  I actually enjoy riding the Triumph Scrambler 400X more than the Guzzis, thus why I'm trading in my V7 Stone on the Tuono.  I'm too upside down on the V100, but I own the V7, so that's the one leaving the flock.  The Tuono will share storage space with the V100, so it'll get ridden (whenever I have a chance to ride).  With work taking up my time M-F, and going down to NC every other weekend, leaves me about 4 weekend days a month to indulge my hobbies here in VA (the two Guzzis, Jag, Lancia, and firearms).  The vehicles only get taken out when it's dry outside, and the bikes have the added variables of not being too cold or too hot (like it was today).  So given those parameters, I can see now why the V100 only has 473 miles after 12 months.  Full retirement should create a LOT more riding time for me!

OK you can't be "too upside down" to sell a bike that you don't like. It'll only be worth less the longer you wait, get rid of it now and cut your loss.

Saw this on FB about another 2024 Aviatione owner complaining about the first gear clunk and someone's response, might be worth pursuing:

"The clunk into first is pretty annoying. Have you tried starting in gear? Start as normal in neutral, let it warm up, turn it off, then restart in gear. You will have to hold the clutch in. Not the best solution but it works.

Also, ask the dealer to look for a warranty campaign number for the shift position sensor.
Mine (0330) was replaced under warranty. Shifts much more smoothly."

When my '23 Navale was new it could not be shifted from 1st or 2nd into neutral when stopped even with quite a bit of force on the shift lever. It could be when the bike was moving. When I complained to the dealership all I was told was that all Italian bikes do that when they are new. So much for taking anything to this dealer, not the only issue I have had with them. Never to darken their doorway again. Anyway I just learned that while stopped the shift from 1st to neutral is easy, the gearbox will not pass neutral into 2nd. Pretty nice feature. I think now that maybe the mechanism that controls this was not working properly. The problem disappeared after approx 1,000 miles. I will have to look at the parts breakdown to see how this all works.
