Tonti Rear Wheel Assembly

Tip for anyone reassembling a Tonti rear wheel, or at least a wire G5-T3:
The small spacer between the brake carrier and the left side wheel bearing must be installed with the small side in against the inner race of the bearing and the large side out to the brake carrier. If you flip it the wheel will bind when you tighten the axle nut. It is part 19 here:
The schematic shows the right orientation if you look closely enough. I didn’t and lost a fair bit of time.

It’s a fooler..skinny goes inside to ride the axle on the inside of the bearings
Doesn’t seem to make sense when it’s in your hand

Not only will the wheel bind, the washer/spacer will deform and lock onto the axle, making it a real PITA to remove. I was warned about this many years ago by mtiberio and think of him whenever I do one.

Aah yes, the top hat spacer. Found that reversed on my Convert with axle loose to allow wheel to turn.
