My hair used to go almost to my belt. Now it's about a third of what you have in your pic.

What tiny bit I have gets shaved off.  I haven’t touched a hairbrush or shampoo in 15 years. - did get me to grow a beard which I keep short and my wife won’t let me shave off.

Just had about 6-8 inches cut off; was about 18 inches long. Have had it long and haven't shaved since 1967. Still like listening to music from those hippie days, too.

Joined the military in 1978, left 2001, 2021, same hair cut albeit a lot whiter and thinner.

The Army joined me in 1969, so that was that for decades.

Now, sigh, as if I even wanted long hair -- and I don't -- that would not happen.

Living where we do, I threaten Kathi now and then with a queue à la George Washington.  She laughs because she knows how (un)likely that is without a fake one.

When I used to get my hair cut, I would always go for keeping 1.5 inches on top.
When - reared its ugly head around March of 2019, my friend that cut my hair quarantined himself from cutting hair.
His wife told me I should grow it out.
It will be 2 years March 2022 since my hair's been cut.
I'm 60. It's never been this long. I like it.
I need to figure out how to keep it from breaking when I wear my MC helmet.
Any ideas?
Brent

Seems to only grow so long, then stays that length. As the years go by, that length seems to get shorter.

My hair today is slightly longer than it was 60 years ago, but not much.  I was a Marine Lieutenant, then.

I am in my mid sixties. My hair has been long and short many times. This time it was for my wife. This is the last hurrah with the hair. When I decide to cut it, it will be short and that’s it.
