The second one this week like that.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-moto-guzzi-eldorado-850-6/

The last one with the subframe cut off then lay down shocks would have allowed wheel contact with the seat, this one, maybe the universal will be the travel limit.
Using all the front fork travel might be interesting also. (for folk watching from a safe distance )

Its the thought that counts and all about the 'build.

The entry on the Loop List:

59940    Eldorado    059940    059940    1973    Temecula    California    United States       Rough condition, engine stuck, no fuel tank, eBay March 2018

So at least the builder didn't molest a nice, complete, original.

How would you like to ride 500-600+ miles in one day on THAT seat?!?

Maybe change that to 5-6 miles a day. In its defense I don't think it was built as a touring bike.

With a few changes, fenders, seat, and handlebars, it would be a cool bobber that you could put some miles on.

I would still be somewhat concerned about the possibility of hitting hard parts at the front end at full travel or the now 8+ inches of rear suspension (if the universal didn't bind first or wheel start to eat the seat)

In the auction replies the main subject seems to be exhaust wrap.

More than the current bid ($1000)? Maybe. More than his reserve (which is really his "asking price" and I'm betting is quite high)? No.

This was featured on ADV this morning.  It got beat up on in the comments section. How could someone tear up one of these. I haven't read the sale material but do they know what he started with? I could have been a box of parts. It's not my type of bike anymore but I like it.

It seems like the seller claims he has owned it since 2005.  Reading the sellers comments on  Bringatrailer I am wary about everything he says.  In my eyes, and I am no expert,  I see a motor, transmission and rear drive that is original and salvageable.  It looks like the frame is butchered, the tank is cool and can be sold , the forks might worth some money too.  Basically a basket case you have some good parts but you are missing quite a bit.  Or just ride it like it is.

He has owned it since '05, but put it on ebay in March 2018. It didn't sell then, and I predict that it won't meet reserve this time around either. I have enough stuff laying around to put it back to stock.

And maybe hook up the rear brakes?

 you think the seller would have at least have a functioning rear brake!

Seller probably has at least $3K into it, the rear shock / wheel travel looks questionable IMHO.

I could do with out all of the hyperbole in the comments section.

Quote
Anybody can ride a bike in a straight line. Good riders can take the corners fast under control. This bike is for those that like to corner fast. Guzzi engines are SWEET, free revving, torquey, and combined with modern forks , brakes and suspension with properly engineered geometry like this one has with modified rear frame for the better rear shock geometry. No stock Guzzi handles like this one. And you have an engine with USABLE horsepower, super reliable, cheap and easy to maintain. Classic one of a kind looks. This bike has it ALL.

Looks like he fixed the rear brake.

I went back and read the Seller’s comments in the BaT listing and came away annoyed. My old Guzzis are more competent in the corners than I am, but there has been almost half a decade of improvements in motorcycle design.

Not to mention be basically says anyone who doesnt like his build can't ride a curve, that all old loops handle like shit, and he has updated it to modern superbike suspension, stopping, and handling... yet it had no rear brake and those ridiculous tires. He seemed like a real dick.
