Michelin 4's vs 5's vs Dunlop TIRES
« on: December 17, 2021, 03:00:40 PM »
Have an '08 1200 Sport and have been running Michelin Pilot Road 4's for quite some time on both front and rear. Handle well. Decided to try the Pilot Road 5.... Got much less milage on BOTH Front and Rear with the Michelin 5's!

The worst part of BOTH Front and Rear tires of the Michelin Pilot Road 5's was the STRANGE WEAR that had taken place on one side and NEVER on the Road 4's!!!

Swithched to the Dunlop RoadSmart 4 in the Rear and have 3,000 miles on it so far and handles and is wearing great! Just had the Dunlop SmartRoad 4 put on the FRONT today.

WOW!!! the bike really wants to lean with the Dunlop RoadSmart 5 FRONT TIRE then I remember with the three previous Michelin Road Pilot 4's!!!  I'll let you know how the Dunlops wear.

          FRONT                                                                    REAR

9,800 avg miles on 3 - Michelin Road Pilot 4's                      10,880 avg miles on 2 - Michelin Road Pilot 4's

8,149  miles on 1 - Michelin Road Pilot 5                               8,957 miles on 1- Michelin Road Pilot 5

1,651 less miles                                                          1,923 less miles
on Road Pilot 5                                                             on Road Pilot 5

The first 2 photos of the worn rear Mich 5 tire. Third is the NEW Dunlop Rear.

Final picture is the front tire worn:  Mich 5 on left  vs new Dunlop on right.

Good timing. I’m having a set of RS4’s mounted on my RT as we speak. I’ve had a good experience with PR4’s but wanted to try something else and see if the RS4’s really live up to Dunlop’s advertising claims. We shall see.

I ran a set of Michelins on my V11 Sport and switched to Roadsmarts.

My Ducati came with Pirellis and after changing several sets, I switched to Roadsmarts.

They handle good, wear good and cost less <Guzzi content>  Get the Dunlops

I have the dunlop Roadsmart 3's on my Norge. I am getting really good mileage out of them. I replaced them at 31,000 and 32,000 miles and now the bike has 45,000 on it. they have not worn out. I put them on in 2018. I will put these tires on again.

Make sure to include a photo of your front Roadsmart 5.

It’s the LAST PHOTO and the Dunlop is on the right side with the worn out PR5 on the left.
