Cylinder search
« on: March 06, 2022, 10:51:14 PM »
I need another cylinder for my 84 Cal 2. Looking at the old one, it looks as if the only difference between right & left side is a slot for clearance at the bottom of the bore. If I find one for the other side it looks to me like all I need do is add another slot 180* off? Other than the slot they look identical to me & I don't see the harm in adding a slot...??  Or am I looking at it wrong?

I think he means the cutout for the rod.

I might have a serviceable cylinder, it’s 88mm isn’t it? I’ll start looking…

If the cyl is for the right side make sure it has the cutout to fit around the distributer on the bottom left of the cyl as you look down

The slots ar the same , as others have said its for the con rod.

Earlier versions of the engine round barrel the cyl would fit either side , then came square cyl so now there is a different cyl. for each  side .

Standard  California @, 1984. I think that is 88 mm. I'm looking for the right side. I see them around, but cannot judge the cylinder walls from pictures they post. And most of what I see are for some reason, left side. I just thought a left cylinder might be altered a touch for use on the right.

No. Those are the earlier round fin cylinders.
