Is anybody here a member of a MC? Motorcycle Club???
« on: March 14, 2022, 02:52:27 PM »
I ask because I am investigating a patch wearing club that members are clean and sober which is my passion also (Being sober as I quit drinking in 2006).

They do have hang around period of 30 days and prospect period of 6 months.  Has anybody here went through that system/process?  I’m just in the investigation phase.  Thanks for any insight.

Old Bastards Vintage MC
Never Old Bikers

For $20 per year you can join either.

They are both service clubs (like Kinsman or Lions) - with proceeds from club events donated to local food banks.

Certainly not sober, but responsible.

The closest I came was a single patch riding club.  I stay clear of the 3 patch clubs.  I don't know enough to tell them apart.

Local BMW club.  I ride with them.  Great bunch of guys.  Used to belong to MGNOC, let that lapse.  I still go to moto guzzi breakfasts.  When I get my T3 finished and start riding it again, i might rejoin.

Since you’re in TN, the Tennessee COC website would be a great place to start. There are a few clean & sober clubs in this state. Feel free to contact me directly anytime if you'd like to review the options. There are essentially an Association, MC's, RC's and MM's in this state. They each have different protocols.

Thank you.  Im looking into not doing it as the “prospect “ status I would probably have a hard time with.  Oh well.

Hi Dave,

Some of Groucho's films are masterpieces, esp. Duck Soup.  The Marxs Bros. were geniuses.  And, to bring this back to the thread topic, most MC clubs need more comedy.  Maybe if the Outlaws and Angels did a skit together.....

I believe it’s the oldest hill climb club in N.E.
Still going strong , I’m not as active as I used to be but try to make a few club meetings a year .

I was kind of an honorary member of the Wichita area El Forasteros in the early 80s after I did a small favor for a member and to my surprise was seen as a big thing to the club. That was when I was riding my GS400.

Thread drift alert... When is the first motorcycle hillclimb at Munson this year? Always a good event.
Back on topic. I was a member of a small group forty years ago. A bunch of us got together because we wanted to ride more than just barhopping. I was the road captain, which meant that I found all the different motorcycle events/shows to go to. I also did bike inspections at the start of a ride. Bald tire, nope, big oil leak, nope. Bikes needed more maintenance then and some guys didn't keep up with it. We didn't have an AMA charter or an HA charter. No colors, but we did have t-shirts.
I don't like riding in groups anymore.

Bob, why not consider starting your own club or just a riding group of folks in your area.
You really don’t have to have an official title as such, just a group of like minded folks who get together occasionally to break bread, day ride or weekend trip.
I’ve got a group of buddies who are all retired motor officers that get together, from 2 to several, almost every week.
You don’t have to wear colors to have a riding club👍

Excellent suggestion, Dan!

Three of us started a club a few years ago using Meetup.com. It's been a rewarding way to meet new people across the socioeconomic spectrum. I now ride with a fun group of multimillionaires, single-wide retirees, and everyone in between. Give your club a name like Serenity Riders or Untoxicated MC. Get creative, it's part of the fun! Write a description of what atmosphere you want to foster. "This club is for the Untoxicated to ride and make connections in a judgment-free, supportive manner." It's your club, make it exactly what you want. Plan your first gathering/ride a few weeks out to allow people to find you and watch the roster grow. You will find quite a few people will join, but only a few will show up for most meets. Those regulars, your core members, are the best folks and worth your efforts.

Enjoy!

I started my own local club, and pretty quickly found for other guys to join. We’ve been on several rides together and it’s very fun. Obviously not a 1%er or a real patch club, but we do have shirts and stickers!
