Having returned from Italy last week I can honestly say it was an amazing experience food wise. I’ve started to refer to it s as my wine tour. Favorite meal of the trip was Florence with a dry aged T-bone steak weighing over 2.2 pounds and Sangiovese.

That steak reminds me of a business trip I went on to Italy once. For me it was a gourmet tour lead by our Italian host whilst the rest of the brits played safe with pizza and burgers

That's the bistecca fiorentina, a Tuscan specialty. I was living in Italy during the Mad Cow outbreak and the Italian government decided to outlaw all meat on the bone. But - they're not heartless. They set a date about a month out so everyone could get one last fiorentina! Then when the lifted it - they announced in a month early so everyone could make their reservations.
