Eni or Silkolene  10/60  New crush aluminum if I have one if not a light wipe of three bond on both sides.  Best to stay with aluminum crush on an aluminum pan. I do like the fancy ones with the rubber ring in them.

That Silkolene is red.  Yes?

Motul 10w60 7100 sg rated Kev  :boozing:

I refuse to use Motul oils because I can't find a proper spec sheet for them. Lots of advertising junk but no detailed spec sheet with ZDDP numbers for example.

Re JJ's comments on the Centauro all the HiCams recommended 20/50, not to mention all the 2 V/V models as well.

It should be noted that 10/60 was not available at the time these bikes were manufactured AFAIK.

Some of the stage C HiCams run hot others less so and I have no idea why.

Monitoring temp and pressure I found 15/50 too thin to handle the higher temps on my engine.

I only move to a different grade though if I have evidence that the engine requires it.

It's not a huge job to put on a couple of gauges (temporary or permanent) and check what pressure and temp are, but few bother.

Re Phil's comment, that's why I moved away from Motul as well.

I want to know what's in the oil I'm putting into the bike and plan to either to stick with the Penrite or perhaps try Royal Purple.

For those of you using Motul.....

WHICH Motul ?
Motul 10 W 60 full synthetic and 90 in the gearbox and bevels.
Penrite 140 for the V85 bevels.
The ONLY time it gets something else is the intermediate change @ 10,000 k in Italy at Agostini’s.

Always was 5100. Now 7100,

duplicate email finder
 the 5100 stopped being available.
I don’t know the difference.
My Norge now has 197,000 km and uses less than a litre every 10,000 k.
So it’s not doing it any harm.

Note that Guzzi issued a tech bulletin quite a while ago super-seeding the old 1100 oil recommendation from the old spec to 10w-60 except for the hydro motors.
I've posted a pic of the spec sheet but it's not on my new computer anymore, so there's that.

Any quality 100%ester 10w60 will meet warranty requirements. Mogul 7100 is such oil made for street bikes.

The fun thing about synthetic oil is they can be made in any color and sent.   Have you ever smelled Motul 7100?  It smells hand soap or body lotion!

As can mineral oils, even glow in the dark with an ultraviolet light to track oil leaks. It's only a dye additive.

I dunno.
I'm not convinced.

These are Italian motorcycles.  Surely, there is something more appropriate.....

If I only collected a $100 bill every time someone made the olive oil joke on this board, I would have enough for a really fat down payment on a new Mandelo V100!

No Italian worth their their salt would ever use olive oil labeled "extra lite" or some sense nonsense.
My Sicilian family would have you whacked if they saw that in a family members kitchen.

First oil change, I went with mobil 1 15w50.  MPH did some warranty work and they put in 10w40 Amzoil, then I went back to 15w50 Mobile 1.  One very hot day in stop and go traffic the oil light came one.  too be fair, the oil temp switch had been weeping so, was it the oil or sensor?  Don't know.
never had another oil light come on after I changed the switch, and switched to 20w60.  I suspect w50 is probably ok, as the w60 probably breaks down pretty fast with that wide weight range.  However, the difference in price isn't that big and if the factory recommends w60, who am I to out think the engineers who designed the engine.

doesn't get very cold here in the swamp, but it does get hot and very humid in the summer.

I bought a case of redline 20w60 and used it till now.  I used the last bottle last change, so I got some Liqui MOly 10w60 for my next change.
