I bought this today.  Scary purchase sight unseen but I know the seller well. It’s a ‘77 900. I’ll pick it up as soon as I can get time.

I just noticed that the front calipers are on the back of the forks and should be on the front. Hopefully easy to switch back.

I think the 900SS is the best looking of the bevel drive twins + it’s an early model, silver/blue and for me that makes it even more desirable. I would love to hear it running at speed, loud and aggressive!

Usually for performance, I'd leave it BUT the nitpickers might follie------------
Swap lower legs L & R and it's back to stock. Make sure your axle is opposite too. May be able to swap whole fork L & R.

Beauty. Maybe one of the best looking bikes ever. Never rode one but did ride a Darmah. I found performance nearly identical to my 850 LeMans minus shaft effect.

I'm curious as to the owners intent on running such a nice bike.  As nice as bikes like that are (and it is stunning!), I've all but given up owning older motorcycles because of the whole ethanol, non-ethanol fuel garbage.  Doesn't the 900ss have a fiberglass fuel tank, or am I thinking of another model?  Finding proper gasoline for older motorcycles ( especially premium) is getting more difficult all the time.  I suppose as long as someone never plans on riding any further than around the block, you can keep a jug of non-ethanol gas in the garage (assuming you live in an area where it's still available).  I have one station in town that sells 91 octane non-ethanol gas, and nine times out of ten, there's a plastic bag over the pump handle.

So as not to bury the lead, because you all are like family, and to get it out there, I paid $US27k wired to the seller in a day to help him raise cash quickly.  We are both very happy with the transaction and he has a first refusal right if I sell it, which he didn’t ask for but I offered after the deal was made.  It is far and away the most I have ever spent on a single bike and I had to do some fast short term borrowing, but have no second thoughts.   It will be strange hauling it back in my 2001 Tundra that cost me 1/9 as much as the bike.

Hi Mike. I intend to ride it locally to work and around town, haul it up to Vermont for mountain riding, try like heck not to scratch or wreck it, and if it gets really valuable maybe sell it down the road. I use premium pump gas in all my bikes and just keep it moving and keep the tanks full.   If not used for more than a few weeks I run carbs dry and drain float bowls. The tank is steel. Ben

About 20 years ago I rolled into the notorious Ghost Motorcycle on Long Island with a broken clutch cable on my CX in hopes of getting a new one and of course they didn't have one but they did have a 750 in the window which they were asking the outrageous price of $15K. 

I thought, beautiful bike but who would pay that much for that old Ducati?
