LM1 Keys
« on: June 03, 2022, 09:51:52 AM »
I only received a single ignition key when I bought my 78 LM1 and I'd like to have at least another ignition key and ideally fork lock keys even though they are of limited use.  My ignition key has as Aprilia stamped on the rubber portion and per Thisoldtractor a code of 1554 stamped ignition switch. Can anyone tell me the where I could find a key blank?

On the fork locks I see a lot of Neiman fork lock blanks, what key code am I looking for?  If I can get a blank I may be able to find a lock smith who will attempt to pick it although so far none that I have contacted will touch it. It's probably cheaper to just buy a new fork lock/key set but my bike is just off restoration and I'd have to attempt to either punch it out or drill it out... preferably with nothing falling into the stem. I did read a post where someone drilled it out with a 4mm bit but didn't drill all the way through the lug (~15mm).  Anyone else attempt to drill it out?

You may try Keys for Classics for blanks, which a local locksmith can cut to match your key in hand

This might help: https://www.thisoldtractor.com/moto_guzzi_tonti_keys_for_the_ignition_switch.html Edit: Or not - looks like a dead link.

Keys4Classics.com in Australia can cut keys to code.

Fork lock is same as BMW airheads, go see the cat in Watkinsville, GA. If you have no key, remove it & buy one. Aprillia keys are out there if you look.

Give Teo Lammers (TLM) a try, flat rate shipping kills an order unless you fill the box up.   DonG

Thanks for the info. I believe the ignition blanks are Silca ISP2 or ILCO IP 63SP.  I found F14 stamped next to the key hole, thinking its code used to cut the key. If I'm successful, I'll post the details. I believe the fork lock blanks are is Ilco SR61N or N2M, Silca NE5, JMA NE6, or Taylor B69K. I may elect to just buy a new lock set for the forks once I get the courage to remove the old lock from my pristine frame (would have been so easy before...).
