Pressure regulator
« on: October 24, 2022, 09:26:43 AM »
Ok.... So I took a look the old at the pressure regulator on my tank today. I’ve never really bothered to look at it before but I noticed that it said “Weber” on it.... Yeah, as in a weber grill pressure regulator.

Is this a thing? Do people actually use a weber regulator on their bikes in a pinch? What gives? Because if I can ride AND grill a nice tiibeye at the same time then game on!

I would assume it says "Weber" because the EFI system is "Weber-Marelli" (now known as Magneti Marelli).

Well that would make a lot more sense! We were having a pretty good laugh about it at the shop because it DOES, look similar to a weber gas tank pressure regulator.

It's much easier to disconnect & connect the earlier version that wasn't on the tank only a fitting to tighten.

Right well so I am fast becoming reminded that to do just about anything with this bike I need to always remove the tank. Is it possible to use some type of quick disconnects on the hoses underneath to keep from having to cut and are-clamp the hoses?

You could get the older one & change it back like my 98EV then put a system in line on the return line.

sorry to say you couldn't be more wrong if you tried.
the fuel pressure regulator is a back pressure reg it relieves pressure above its set point
A BBQ regulator is a downstream regulator, it lets gas through until the pressure is at set point
they are polar oposites
I'm an instrument technician, I have to know the difference.

It often feels as though I am trying to be wrong. Thanks for your input on things. It is totally appreciated!

There's a description on page 7, the last sentence re tube to manifold doesn't apply to a modern Guzzi
