Creating some new Guzzi art featuring a V700
« on: November 14, 2022, 06:44:42 AM »
I’m ‘free’d up from my ‘free’lance gigs for the moment, which means it’s time to hammer into some personal projects that I’m hoping to complete one day. On the table I have a couple ideas I want to flesh out—a playing card deck of terrible people in history, a scratchboard and painting of Chiron/Sagittarius, publishing my own version of Animal Farm, et al.

While working on some of these, I remembered I wanted to have another motorcycle piece in my portfolio, so I took to doodling and made this cute lass. Figured I just had to go further with it now, so I started working her onto a V700, possibly my favorite Guzzi.

Still got a ways to go—this is merely the sketch phase, but I plan to do a traditional painting and scratchboard eventually. Progress pics:

Really good stuff, Dirk!  :thumb: I blew up the GT Norge you posted here a few years ago and gave it to The Kid. He has it framed in his Guzzi Shed.

Excellent! With that color scheme, the bike looks more like a V700 than an Ambassador though.

Ah, yes, Charlie—thank you! I suppose over the course of a couple years, my brain rewired to substitute the Ambo nomenclature for the V700 Special, forgetting the Ambo came afterward. Subject header revised and ego brought down a couple pegs.

Overall I like the style/technique. As you toy with where you are heading (and who am I to suggest) But I know what I like about your evolution and what I do not, The wrench whimsy ? not so much, a distraction to all the rest which is ok. The first face expression I prefer over the evolution to the last image, All that said I like what you are capturing, very nice indeed.

Being picky again... V700 is just V700 - no Special. There was a V7 Special for Europe, it was a 750, basically comparable to the US market Ambassador.

Model progression:
V700 (703 cc)
Ambassador/V7 Special (757 cc)
Eldorado/850GT (844 cc)

Thanks again. I think there are some errors out in the internets in that case. I know of a Motorcycle Classics article that refers to it as a V700 Special, and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen other examples.

Good thing I didn’t have plans to include the name in the artwork.

Ugh, I was actually going for Taylor Hicks. I’m such a failure.

Looks like a Holiday card to me, excellent!

Oh yah— Greeting cards will be a print size option for sure.

Appreciate the kind words. Still working out the sketch.

Ditto!

A Gal on a Guzzi? I'm in!!!

On the Modern Vespa forum, there is a gentleman that has a web store ( https://www.redbubble.com/people/doublegood/shop ) where he sells his creations. He did a scooter girl and I told him if he put her on a shirt, I'd buy it. He did, and I love wearing it.
