LeMans 1 fairing/turn signals

I'm curious what you call it, but more importantly, I'd like to see, with some detail if possible, how the turn signals were mounted below the head tube.

As Charlie pointed out, the LM1 indicators are attached to a straight rod that is secured to the rear of the lower yoke via two tabs that have a slight twist in to mate nicely to the yoke.

Last page of the parts book, part #19. I did a quick search as someone was selling this part but I can’t seem to find it now but it should fit on your 1000S.

I usually call it a bikini fairing, but headlight cowl is probably more accurate

And if you’re planning on installing the bikini fairing on your 1000S it will require modifying the openings of the fairing for the fork tubes and the top of the clock holders will be right against wind screen unless you plan on changing the holder to the early models or the one typical to the LM I. Basically, this is not a plug and play modification.

The earlier version of the turn signal mount was mounted to the frame in the same spot where crash guards would bolt up.

Fun seeing speculation kick in! After the year I’ve had, Chuck, I suppose it wouldn’t seem too far fetched, but no LM1 for me at this point.

Nope. Blackcat’s assumptions are correct. Bikini fairing on the 1000S. My understanding is that, aside from looking great, this was also OEM on British versions of the bike.

I speculated that may be the case re: the clocks. The BAT auction that raised the cieling on these bikes had that fairing, and I liked it. As you know BC, there’s also a Japanese fellow on the FB page that’s got a beautiful black/orange example. This is what I’m exploring.

Model year based, first series/second series as Guzzi calls it. '76 (first series) as guzzista says, straight mount across the frame. Similar to some of the chrome rear signal mounts on T3's etc, but in black. '77 and '78 (second series), black fork mount like Charlie shows. The latter type show up as repops occasionally out of Europe.

Yes, but those bikes did not have the same clock holder as your bike. Here is a photo of my CX with the 1000S clock holder and the LM I fairing. If you enlarge the photo you can see the rubber bumpers I put on the top of the holder to keep the screen from breaking or scratching the screen. Yes, it's not the same triple tree as the 1000S but I bet it's pretty close in terms of the mounting plane on top of the clamp. 



I eventually went to the LM I clock holder which looks better and I wasn't replacing screens every few years.  And if you take this route on the 1000S you will need the 40mm brackets or make some brackets to hold the clocks below the top triple tree. Maybe if you hunt down a parts book from those early bikes you might find the part number and some supplier has a pair on the shelf. And I don't think there is enough meat on the 35mm clock holders to make them wide enough for the 40mm forks.
