Making sidecar mounts

Todays garage project was to finish up making these mounts. Left side fits any Tonti frame (Specifically a EV11 for this fellow), while the right side fits Dauntless sidecar arms. Simple and clean way to adapt the bike to the hack.

Nice job on those parts.  What finish are you planning for them?

Great looking brackets Lee, obviously you’ve done these before. Are these similar to the mounts you used for the Quota rig you did for Doug at The Watertown Motorcycle Shop? And would they work to connect existing lower brackets on a Vetter Taraplane?  I know without accurate dimensions you can’t say,but I also know you’ve mounted Taraplanes to California Tonti frames before.

Nice work!  A guzzi with a sidecar is one of my future goals so its nice seeing how the mountings are.

I will chime in here, as Lee is making those mounts for my 98 V 11 EV, that I am mounting a DMC sidecar to.  The mount Lee showed are the front and rear lower mounts. They bolt directly into the  Tonti frame rails, near the front engine mount bolt, and at the rear, right next to the passenger footpeg mount.
I plan to use standard clamp type mounts for the two upper mounts.
This is the third Tonti sidecar rig I set up using Lee's mounts. They are sturdy, and very "clean". Good stuff!

They are made from stainless steel. They are fine in bare metal.

Quota is a unique mounting set up for sure. but making the sidecar side of the joints is usually pretty straight forward.

If you are using a Velorex onto the convert, that's an extra simple mount.

BOth of the lower arms use this joint. For the uprights, a simple U-Clamp style works fine.

I have no idea what kind of a sidecar I'll be using. Obviously want something safe and stable for some longer distance riding but mostly to be able to throw my grandson dog and camping gear in and go for some long rides and overnights. Maybe the wife too, but unlikely 😂.

Ideally I would like something that once set up I could connect and disconnect with minimal of us but I know so little about this at this point. I also have no headspace or timing to begin the necessary edjumification  at this juncture of my life.
